Set looks to be the same as the previous limited edition (without me checking mine anyway) which is good news for people who missed out in the past (luckily got a good deal on it on eBay a couple of years ago) but still an instant buy for me.
It most likely will be a slipcover as the mock does not show amaray sticking out of the slip
As usual until released and in hand with customers only then will it be known for sure.
Royal Mail messed up with my parcel when shipping to Ireland
They sent the IOSS electronic declaration late as in after parcel was already received in Republic of Ireland and due to this my parcel is been returned to sender.
EU rules IOSS electronic declaration must be received by customs in delivery country before postal service in destination country receives that parcel
Postal service in destination country cant do delivery if they get the electronic declaration late as in after a parcel has already arrived in destination country.
happy days. so i bought yet another copy of one of my favourite films. i now have Frankensteined the 20th anniversary dvd steelbook with the subsequent ltd edition blu ray steel plus now also this, for the simple reason that each set has additional extras or other aspects the others don't have. this film is crying out for a collected all-features-previously-released uber-release. anyway, read on below for this new 4K from arrow, or just go here for the pictures only.

first thing to say is on the remaster. this film is never going to look crisply modern. it was filmed on 35mm, but i'm not sure how much 4K is adding to it compared to if they'd released a standard blu-ray version. that said, for those who want a remastered copy of the film - certainly of use considering the terrible prints that have circulated in the past - then this is pretty good. plus it has all of the four original Withnail Weekend documentaries, not just the ones often added as extras, so that includes the very unusual sight of archive documentary 'The Peculiar Memories of Bruce Robinson,' unusual becuase he almost never does interviews, and this is extensive.
as for the physical product, as mentioned above, this is the usual rigid Arrow slipbox, using the famous Ralph Steadman artwork . the front is well rendered and the rear is printed text:
the amaray suffers from that Arrow fetish / detrimental habit of having the same image on bloody everything, and it's also used on the cover of the booklet:
but along with the remaster, the other leading positive for this release is the booklet. i already own several books on the film, but this booklet is detailed, well curated, and still managed to throw up a few facts and details of which i was not aware:
one of the finest films available to humanity presented in 4K with a fine slipbox and good extras, plus a good booklet. and still available everywhere linked in the OP.

Most digital films today (even if shot at 4k) are finished at 2K (a large percentage of digitally shot films on 4K disc are 2K upscales). 35mm film resolves at 4-6K natively. So, in most cases- a 35mm 4K will always look better. (Because it has the latitude to get more resolution based on the scan (2K, 4K, 8K, etc)- whereas with digital you have no latitude and are locked in to whatever resolution you shoot).
FYI- the 2013 Zavvi Withnail Blu-ray steelbook fits nicely with this slip. (Swapping out the Blu-ray for 4k disc in the steelbook of course. The second disc tray is reserved for the Blu-ray disc that contains the commentary with Paul McGann & Ralph Brown which is sadly absent from the 4K edition)

Yes! The Arrow's seem to be designed perfectly for the steelbook swap! I have done this with many of them (Barbarella, Warriors, invasion of the body snatchers, etc). Love doing The Frankenstein-ed editions!
