****** tactic, obviously fearing mass cancellation's...
Like I said earlier when I spoke with them this morning on the phone I was told the pre orders they have had for this far exceed any other release and they had to charge this early in order to process them all !!!
BULLSH*T to me total BULLSH*T ..... To me it may be alarm bells ringing of HMV of old and struggling to pay for their allocation in time for release.
I then asked them would this be happening to War of Apes with it being a stella triple wammy and was told that title was not in demand like WW ...... Hmmmmmmmmm

What’s wrong with being charged a week and a half before release? They may dispatch early

Nothing. This is just the latest in people overreacting in the world of steelbook collecting. People need to chill the **** down.

Wanna cancel? You'll get your money back. Why call HMV when you already know the answer? It's like pitchfork central over here everytime something out of the ordinary happens.

IF payment has been taking a week earlier without the item being sent a week earlier then yes it's pretty underhand as it goes against an HMV policy which they put in place, that's just a fact, no overreaction on my part and I don't have a pitchfork. I planned on keeping my order so I'm not overly affected however I understand why some would be miffed.

I also agree with @lgans316 comment regarding payment upon pre - ordering, I am prepared to pay Nova, Kimchi, Plain ETC upfront, so If I wanted a steel from HMV, Zavvi I'd be prepared to do the same if this was their policy, however they would both have to be more clear and provide more info on the finished product which I was paying for.

Think a lot were going to cancel by the end of this week by the look of it.

What DanielC don't realise is they are unable to cancel now even though they won't dispatch this for at least another 7 days. Meaning you should be able to cancel without having to email or chat to anyone. But you can't

But he clearly hasn't read the posts

Good luck cancelling. I always order 2 copies incase of damage but decided to cancel one yesterday morning . HMV customer services said OK but I wouldn't be refunded immediately then to get a dispatch message first thing today. Oh well.

There are 2 sides to this

1. Money was not taken upfront but they charged 2 weeks prior to the release date which gives consumers zero opportunity to cancel if they change their mind which is actually a big deal in Western countries where most of them are skint and have some cash to splash mainly on Payday.

2. At the same time, some of the folks who hate the above practice are perfectly fine with splashing their cash on random pre-order dates by premium retailers. So how come they can afford to pay upfront months in advance and be happy with it, and why so much noise is being made when retailers charge one or two weeks early? Remember these retailers don't always charge this early as most of the times they ship few days close to the release date.

So what if I wanted to cancel Gotg Nova order which was shipped 2 weeks early? Nova would say FIZZ OFF if I demand free returns just because they shipped early.

Lgans you have said this a lot but who really orders premiums thinking they will cancel a week or 2 before the initial release date?

You pay up front with premiums and when it's dispatched with standard retailers in and out of the U.K.

It's the way it is (unless you pay with PayPal)

And it all depends on ehen the releases are and I what I can personally afford each month, writing down all release dates and pre order dates for premiums I want so I know what I can afford and then making changes if I can't afford stuff because of something coming up in my personal life or just a lot of releases coming out that month

I don't get what's so hard to grasp yet you mention this a lot

Very odd to see these shipped out so early. Considering the release date is still well over a week away

Embargo must be lenient on this release lol

Actually it's pretty good service. Already shipping before the actually release date. I hope Amazon UK is doing that too for the normal amaray UHD version.
I am curious about this steelbook.
It's still on my to get list.

Hmmm.

This story of mine will interest a few here.

I requested a cancellation of a paypal order on Monday via their usual customer service email address (before they started charging on Tuesday), I hadn't received any further communication from HMV...until this morning.

I had a despatch email !!!, so I thought, damn you HMV, you see my request to cancel and go and ship it instead....EXCEPT this didn't happen. See the email I just received a miniute ago..:

Mate,

It is the same old posts polluting the UK threads whenever something is shipped a bit too early. It is very rare that UK retailers charge more than a week early. I would give HMV benefit of doubt with this release.

With Gotg, I actually wanted to do a part cancellation as I found the items cheaper at Koreanmuse lol but it was too late as Nova shipped 2 weeks in advance. You don't see that many people complaining but when a UK retailer does that there always seems to be a huge scene which tickles me a bit. :naughty:
