A lot of collectors don't want to pay the high prices so when another release comes and it is similar artwork it's like 'haha I got it cheap without paying the high prices!'

I don't think the original will decrease in value. I think it will just stop increasing, may drop a little but it will still be highly sought just like all the rare steelz that are re-released.

Seriously and I'm willingly going off-topic here: When did a rerelease EVER permanently decrease the price of an original first release steelbook? I can't think of any to be honest (Iron Man, Star Trek, Inglourious Basterds x4, Inception,...I am Legend FS maybe, but the jury is still out on the long-term impact) and still this seems to be what 50% of this thread consists of. Why is this such a big deal? Zombieland 1st Edition DE will always be the first edition and it will always be a cool (and most likely pretty valuable) steelbook. If people replace there German one with the play.com one and make some money in the process - good for them, I'm sure there is going to be an equally large number of people who will be happy to take it off their hands!

I'm actually still waiting for that widely forecasted price-drop on Iron Man (FS)... I don't see it coming any time soon, same goes for Zombieland and Watchmen by the way...

I don't think everyone is saying this. I think a lot of people are saying the german version will be sold to be replaced by this one. Not to say the value is going to go down, but I believe people will get rid.

Apologies if this is not right as I'm too lazy to read back :p, but this looks like the same kind of finish as used on Fight Club and that was rubbish (imo)

Fight Club had a crappy matte finish like the rest of the Fox wave. The Universal and Paramount waves are much better, so I'm hoping for the same here.

I said this will only impact the german release if this gets embossing/debossing treatment - I can't see it happening otherwise.

I didn't say if the price would drop either, just that it'll have an impact - what that impact is i don't know.... it may just stay even instead of increasing year on year.

When there are two very similar products, it all comes down to the execution and finishing.

I have the DE version and I still think the black finish works better but mn I will double dip on this, the jury is out if I will double dip on Watchmen

Great steelbook, wow play.com has been pumping out steelbooks lately hopefully the US will start getting more
