With 10 3D Blu-ray Discs debuting Nov. 16 — 10 days before Black Friday — and heavy retailer support for 3D consumer electronics, DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group is hoping for big things for the 3D category this holiday season.

The DEG counts 24 3D Blu-ray titles announced for retail by the end of the year, a figure that doesn’t count exclusives tied to certain 3D hardware or retailers. Nearly a dozen distributors have released or announced 3D Blu-ray titles.

“We are excited to see so much industry support for bringing Blu-ray 3D home,” said Ron Sanders, president of Warner Home Video and DEG. “And now, consumers buying 3D home entertainment systems over Black Friday weekend will have ample 3D programming to accompany them.”

The Blu-ray Disc Association reports that nearly 25% of standalone Blu-ray players sold in the United States are 3D capable, and the DEG estimates along with 25 upcoming 3D video games, there will be more than 1,000 hours of 3D broadcast programming available in the next 12 months.
