well actually it's a company in Guernsey and is only subject to UK law for Immigration and Citizenship purposes but outside that it's it's own country not subject to Most UK or European laws including yes you've guessed it.............. TAX

The tax is the same as the UK now, the change was the whole reason play.com stop trading.
 
Well then there must be some reason they are based there instead of within the UK. Companies are famous for trying to avoid paying tax and there has to be a tax dodge in there somewhere or they would be based in the UK.
