I would agree and in this day and age I find it surprising. What surprises me even more is people still pre order not even knowing what they are buying. Zavvi know a good majority of collectors are very gullible so why release info that could result in loss of sales when customers will buy it anyway. I wouldn't buy a car or a kitchen without knowing the ins and outs of it all neither would I buy a steelbook. I think a lot of collectors become addicted then that's it they just have to have it regardless of any criteria. This puts the retailer in a very good position.

Everybody collects for there own reasons, it's important that we all respect that. If folks want to collect just to have it no matter what just because it exists that's there choice. It's not just steelbooks either, you should visit the world of trading cards. EEK! Folks go nuts over them, and the same with comic books too. This hobby caters to all facets of collecting experiences.

I gotta say that artwork is really cool :p.

As a side note, I agree with AcIDc0r3, people will collect for their own reasons and that's not something that needs to be justified.

I hope it turns out like the UK Release of Shutter Island

Is it gonna be part of the numbered classics? If so then it has to be the same size as the others to have both ratings logos and the number on the spine side of the slip.

But it doesn't have to be. Look at the quarter slips that come out of asia. They usually go all the way up the spine regardless of how high the slip on the front goes. Zavvi could do a 1/8 slip like aladdin and have the spine go all the way up.

It doesn't fall in to the category of Disney's numbered classics anyway, so no, it won't be numbered.

Mary Poppins will not have a number on the Jcard slip

I ordered this and 101 dalmatians with out seeing the rest of the art because i like the front artwork for both but i also thought that the rest of the artwork would be announced before release (and if I don't like it I can cancel anytime). The fact is we we're never shown the artwork so I made a decision to keep my pre order based on what I did know, zavvi imo did a fine job on the last 3 disneys and I'm hopeful these next 2 will be of the same standard. If I hated them that much I could return them or sell them on, so I have options. Also I bought big trouble in little china without seeing the back artwork, and as awful as the back art is, the front is amazing to me and is one of my favourite steelbooks. Of course I would prefer to know exactly what I'm buying and I think it should be policy that all retailers give full details for what they are selling but that strangely isn't the case but I have a choice to buy it or not and I have options if I'm not happy with the items I buy, its just not as clear cut as buying because I'm addicted without out any thought.

seeing as 101 has been arriving with some UK Ninjas, I'm wondering if anyone has received their copy of this yet?

I'll be honest, I just want to see pictures :)

After receiving 101 dalmations I have high hopes from Mary Poppins, but like myself I gather that no one has received theirs yet? I have had the despatch emails that was a few hours later than 101 dalmations so hopefully tomorrow

My copy has arrived. The title is embossed and Mary Poppins and the umbrella is embossed. The finish is plain silver/matte with spot gloss on the embossed areas and merry-go round images:
