I'm struggling to get excited about this one. Random pics on a plain silver steelbook???
I hated the film too so that just makes it an easy pass.

I'm loving the front artwork on this, truly first class. Names seemed out if place when I opened it. Back is nice and will be glossed shortly. I did notice a few bits of spotting on the back. Anyone else? Not overly impressed with the inside art. Very poor quality and they had lots of amazing scenes to draw from.

Received mine today.
Looks pretty good with the spot glossing, not as good as 101 Dalmations in my opinion.
Will have to give it a watch over the next few days;)

Funny how this dosen't have the "classic" number on the sleeve but 101 Dalmatians did.

Is Marry Poppins not a classic, I could of swore it was

It depends on your country; in some territories it is a classic. In the UK, the classics list generally refers to the output of Walt Disney Animation Studios, with a few exceptions.

I was not going to buy it.. but now that I can see in hands pics I want it! Will have to wait though.. too much spending on steelbooks this month. And Zavvi keep sending these emails with bargains and discount codes...
Hopefully this will stay in stock for a little while...

The Disney Steelbook Collection
does not say The Disney Classic Collection

So it can be any Disney Film including Live action Films
Excluding Pixar as this has its own Separate Steelbook Collection from Zavvi

The Disney Steelbook Collection can be any Disney Film including the Live Action Films but so far they have been the Animated Range so at some stage you could see Non Animated Films
It will all depend on Disney and Zavvi what the Disney Steelbook Collection will be so don't be surprised if you see a Disney live action Film get a release

The Disney Steelbook Collection will not be any Title that's Vaulted only when a title that vaulted comes out of the Vault can it be considered for the Collection

Best of the bunch. A gorgeous front, a good back, though the inside could be better quality.

You'd think they'd make a Mary Poppins steel practically perfect in every way, but close enough. ;)

i really like the inside but not really impressed with the rest. i think the back would have looked better with a more minimal design to match the front.

it is a classic film in a steelbook though so is probably worth owning just for that... im not in a rush to buy it though

Looks like an excellent release. Love the back and interior artwork (I'm always partial to left-sided art inside). As for the finish, at least it has the spot gloss! Can't wait to receive mine. Seems like Zavvi is starting to realize what the people want in a Disney steelbook!

I think it looks horrible, worst of the collection so far, even planes looks better...

How come so much praise, is it because you like mary p so much that you have to justify it for yourselfs ?

Must admit... I agree. I probably even prefer the Fantasia steel to this one. I was hoping I'd like it more in-hand, but I still really dislike the front artwork... the quality of the image used for the interior is terrible too. I do like the spot-gloss though, and the back art is pretty nice. To each their own anyway. :)

wow. really? of course, we are all welcome to our own opinion. i respect that, but still i'm surprised. just in general I would think the vast major of even seasoned steelbook collectors would be pleased with this. (save for the granny panty sized slip).

The artwork chosen inside and out is a perfect match for this film. I'm starting to wonder if we have become too picky and maybe even spoiled as steelbook collectors with some of the elaborate packages we've seen lately. To me, a strong effort goes a really really long way. I mean like.. it's a HUGE part of the equation in my book. If I see intentional effort, it almost decides my opinion for me.

Perfect example: The names at the top... Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. I probably would have chosen not to put those there. I don't think they are necessary at all really.

However, it does appear that intentional effort was made to at least make them fit perfectly into the border. How annoying would it have been to have Julie above the border and Andrews below the border. We would have all said it would be better if they thought to put them inside the border fully. GT would have made a mockup with the names in the border and it would have looked better and it would get 27 "thanks" and we would say how come they don't hire GT.

But since they already did it, I am totally fine with the names now.

Stuff like that. Anyway. I'm rambling. Yes. You said it best Noodles. To each their own.

I can only speak for myself, but it's simply just down to taste rather than me being "picky" - for some reason the steels that most people seem to dislike are often the ones I like the most (good example is the recent Kubrick wave). I'm all about artwork though... I find the front art on this to be messy/cluttered, and I don't like that both Mary Poppins and Bert are on the front cover twice... it really bugs me, so maybe I am a little picky in that sense. :p
