I'd thought the inside art was really good, but seeing it that large, it now doesn't quite seem right. Or is the Falcon cockpit really that much different in Solo from the original trilogy? At any rate, it looks really CG, not an actual photo.

I agree with you.

I didn't notice it until you said it, but it's definitely CGI.

It doesn't look as noticeable/defined in the actual steelbook though.....

It looks like there is a bit more of the inside of the ship showing in the North American version. Not as close-up as the UK.

Problem here is that the artwork is too wide for a vertical steelbook . . .and to state the obvious a problem easily resolved with (a) an horizontal steelbook or (b) a smaller Falcon (which may or may not be an improvement) . . .

. . . or even (c) a vertical Millennium Falcon instead of diagonal . . . although looking at some of the STAR TREK steelbooks the Enterprise can be seen coming from every which way:-

Yes, maybe not following in the footsteps of previous STAR WARS steelbooks . . . which can best be described as a bit of a mishmash anyway . . . but certainly the Falcon is in the noble tradition of STAR TREK steelbooks w/ the Enterprise art on the front.

Apart from that the wailing and gnashing of teeth is premature and this steelbook will be better appreciated as soon as better pics are available next month.

Or maybe we'll all dislike it, for honest, genuine reasons. :) It may not fit into anyone's idea of the "noble tradition" of Millennium Falcon imagery. ;)

My problem is the new design of the Falcon. For some reasons they had to change this iconic ship for the new movie, but I don't like it.

This is the Falcon I love and grew up with:

So, after seeing the finish, I'll pass.

Can anyone give me their honest opinion on whether the 3D is worth it for Solo?

When a title is in 3D, I usually prefer watching it in this format but only if it's done well (I prefer Winter Soldier in 2D for example as I feel the 3D adds little to what is an awesome movie). It's just that I've read reviews that the 3D is not worth it with Solo and now I'm thinking to cancel the 3D steelbook altogether as I'm not keen on the early photos of it. I'm thinking I might just get the amaray and not bother at all with 3D for this.

I agree with the people that think this needs to have the title. Without the title, it just looks like we are just getting a badly cropped image of an original piece of artwork.

quite weird both 3D and 4K Steelbook are out of stock considering how many people did not like the movie, or the Steelbook itself.
