Supergirl is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El, Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant. She works alongside her friend and IT technician Winn Schott and famous photographer James Olsen, who Grant just hired away from the Daily Planet to serve as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw, head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime

I LOVE Arrow and I'm really looking forward to the Flash, but this one worries me a little...
I'm stilling holding on to the hope that they will connect the TV universe with the Movie universe and this will just make things WAY more complicated. How do you do this show without Supz!?

And now with talks of a Nightwing centred Young Justice TV show too on TNT. I'm feeling more and more doubtful they will connect everything.

But who knows.

DC, WHAT IS YOUR PLAN!? lol

Looks like this got picked up STRAIGHT TO SERIES by CBS (not CW). Interesting. Now there is a superhero show on every network. lol.

Here is a brief write up for the show's plot:

"The hourlong drama… centers on Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, who was born on the planet Krypton and escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be."

With her age revealed... wonder who they will Cast in the role. Any Actress suggestions for someone in that age bracket?

I'm not sure that CBS can make a show such as this a success. I think it may have done better at the CW.

Yeah, Smallville pretty much made that channel the Superhero channel.None of the other channels have ever really pulled of comic book shows. It would also have made sense to keep all the Dc Universe shows on one network.

As long as she's actually flying and it's not some college low budget nonsense. We want super villains and powers and loads of cool flying scenes.

It won't be cheap to make. But as long as it's not Smallville, I'll be happy(ish).

This should be a great series since I rather enjoy Smallville, Arrow and also the Flash. Not seen that Melissa before but she looks hawt :D

Sort of wish they slow down with all these comic book TV/Online series ATM.

I agree, there are just too many!

I hope this turns out to be a good series as I really enjoy Supergirl in the comics as she is very different to her cousin and it would be great to see a female super hero tv show as there arent many of those around at the moment.

Are they planning on hiring every Glee member to star in superhero shows? With Grant Gustin as the Flash (Also from Glee), I suspect Lea Michele will be cast next :D

I hadn't even heard of this until just now. On the one hand, I'm interested in a well done series like this. On the other hand, I expect this to crash and burn. But prove me wrong!
