All I read in this entire wave is bla bla bla its matte and dull. How about quality control? Is there slashed spines and or paint chips or does this wave look better.

Pretty sure just by reading all the post that it is poorer quality then Zavvi and Disney's previous releases.

The super glossy 3d Tron Legacy Steelbook was only few quid higher than this. The artwork is good on this but the finishing is crap.

Agree. Would've though somebody at Disney would have used their brain and kept it in style with the 'Legacy' Steelbook design. No embosing/debossing gimickery but a nice gloss finish instead.

Would've looked awesome side by side then :(

I'm sick to death of black matt Steelbooks!!

The decision to make now is whether to stick with the pre-orders for the upcoming Disney titles. I think I will be cancelling Monsters University because the artwork is shocking and a matte finish would make things worse. The Nightmare Before Christmas would look awesome with a glossy finish, but I don't think a matte finish would suit it at all. That red needs a vibrant, glossy finish to make the most of the design. As for Wreck-It Ralph, well i'm glad I stuck with the Blufans version now. The UK one may get embossing, but if it looks similar to this, it isn't worth £22.99.

I really hope our concerns can be taken seriously by Disney/Zavvi. It's getting to the point where i'm thinking of not pre-ordering anything as more often than not we end up disappointed. It may be a risk to not pre-order any titles, but the vast majority come back into stock around release date if they do sell out, so that may be the way forward for me personally at least.

Every single one of mine has a minimum of one paint chip. Some have 2 or one paint chip and a painting error small circle pop up here and there. Spine slasher hadn't cut mine this time.

It's the streaky powdery paint job that's displeased me the most. Normal matte would have been better. Some titles shouted out for gloss though. Dick Tracy and the rocketeer artwork would have popped. Sixth sense maybe spot gloss.

Agree with above posts. Tron could have popped with life instead of being dull.

Is the title embossed? Can't really recognize it from the photos.

Yes, it is. That's why there's a border - it's a necessity for some embossing such as the title and/or characters. The other alternative would be to deboss the title (like Starship Troopers).

I've whacked in an order after seeing it come back in stock.. Is this worth it? (People who have received a copy). I've heard some negative comments about the finish but the finish looks good to me,

Perhaps a gloss finish might have been better, perhaps different art might have been better. Looks are subjective, just because others don't like it doesn't mean you won't like it. But if it's a film you like and want and you are willing to pay extra for a steelbook then it's upto you if you want a copy of this steelbook.

Somehow I forgot to order this and tried to yesterday but was out of stock. Was waiting to get a haircut today and got an email from Zavvi about them being back in stock. That was nice of them:)

I prefer glossy pretty much every time, but to me, this doesn't look bad at all. I think the worst matte finish I've ever seen is on the new versions of The Dark Knight in the US that was released a few months back. That was a disgusting (lack of) effort by Warner.

This looks much better IMO. Actually I don't see any difference between this finish and several other very well received matte steels of the past.

Consider Play.com Wolverine, Canada Blade Runner, Play.com Fight Club, and The German trilogy set of The Dark Knight. All are matte finish, and all are very nice steelbooks that I am quite pleased with.
