[NYCC 2022] Collectibles, Figures, Designer Toys, Toys, and Everything Else on the Show Floor at New York Comic Con

After returning to an almost normal in person convention last year the 2022 edition of New York Comic Con (NYCC) show felt a lot closer to a pre-pandemic show. With large crowds, stronger programming, and a fuller convention floor, the convention even ended up using more floor space which had not been used last year after the completed expansion of the convention center, the four day convention annually held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan brought in hundreds of thousands of fans, to celebrate all aspects of pop culture whether it be movies and television or comics, collectibles, and anime.

As I’ve mentioned in the past I’ve generally favored the show floor over other aspects, such as panels and parties, at most conventions and while some of these things have begun to creep into my overall comic con experiences I still will always heavily favor the show floor. Since the show floor is where hundreds of exhibitors come to show off their newest products from the largest exhibitors with huge displays and activation to the smallest booths selling I generally find myself aimlessly wandering the booths looking for new and interesting things and while it was sad not seeing some familiar faces there were still plenty of things to see throughout the weekend. I’ll even point at that while my coverage doesn’t include them I was very happy to see the re-emergence of book publishers on the show floor. That said while I appreciate that New York Comic Con caters to many diverse fandoms I do think the footprint with regards to anime has to be looked at in future years to create a bit of a better balance; Bandai for example who I really do appreciate and who will get their own separate article given how much they had at the convention was given a bit too much space in lieu of other companies.

As there was a distinct lack of companies with statues this year I’ll be covering a wide range of booths with everything from collectible figures, designer toys, and other pop culture related products that drew my eye from the floor. As I always mention though since there are close to 800 booths at the larger conventions this is just a small snapshot of the booths I found to be interesting and is by no means a complete look at the show floor.
