J.D. Salinger, the legendary author, youth hero and fugitive from fame whose "The Catcher in the Rye" shocked and inspired a world he increasingly shunned, has died. He was 91.

Salinger died of natural causes at his home on Wednesday, the author's son said in a statement from Salinger's literary representative. He had lived for decades in self-imposed isolation in the small, remote house in Cornish, N.H.

sad news

Yeah I remember reading the book in highschool too.. I believe it's part of the required reading in english class that all kids read at some point anymore these days.

I liked it, but ultimately it didn't make me want to become an assassin, which for some reason I understood that all famous assassins read the book.

Huh, so it's not like what you see on T.V. ?

Man... the world is a crazy place.
