Looks like Zavvi have sold out their allocation of stock

Zavvi was allocated a limited amount so you can expect other retailers to list soon

That 4K logo on the spine is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too big for my liking - it stands out more than the actual title.

Is the norm for 4K steelbooks?
I actually don’t recall seeing 4K on the spine of any other Steels. Perhaps there was but I don’t remember seeing it. It’s usually because the Steelbooks are used for multiple versions so they don’t want to print 4K on them.

The back artwork is way too small and the 4K UHD logo on the spine is hideous otherwise it is decent. Maybe one day this film will get the proper treatment instead of all of the half-arsed attempts we've had so far.

lol, £35, I couldn't care less if the amaray price is that high too, they can stick both versions right where the sun don't shine. They think that because everyone's going digital now, that they can/should shaft the few remaining people that buy physical releases even harder?

4K is nice, and I can tell the difference between it and 1080p, but 1080p is fine. It's not like the VHS to DVD jump, or even DVD to Blu Ray. They need to seriously rethink things if they plan on trying to charge these prices. I've spent a lot of money on this stuff but even I have limits.

It's a brand new remaster on both 4K UHD and Blu-ray
The 4K UHD with HDR presentation was "mastered from the 65mm original camera negative. The 4K UHD also includes both a remixed and restored 5.1 DTS-HD master audio track, as well as the original 1968 6-track theatrical audio mix (formatted for 5.1 DTS-HD master audio)

3 Discs
4K UHD/Blu-ray/Blu-ray bonus disc

  • 4K UHD Blu-ray™ with Commentary from Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood

  • Remastered Blu-ray™ with Commentary from Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood

Blu-ray Bonus Disc
  • The Making of a Myth
  • Standing on the Shoulders of Kubrick: The Legacy of 2001
  • Vision of a Future Passed: The Prophecy of 2001
  • 2001: A Space Odyssey – A Look Behind the Future
  • What Is Out There?
  • 2001: FX and Early Conceptual Artwork
  • Look: Stanley Kubrick!
  • 11/27/66 Interview with Stanley Kubrick [Audio Only]
  • Original Theatrical Trailer

The 4K Amaray is also £34.99 in the UK with all retailers
4K Steelbooks are usually more expensive than 4K Amaray releases
You are lucky steelbook don't cost more

Yes, I already read your previous posts sticking up for the price

They can charge whatever they want, but I'm not going to buy it, and I'm not going to pretend I think the price is in any way fair.
I'm not sticking up for the price I would like if it cost less ;) but you can't expect a 3 Disc new remastered 4K steelbook to cost less than a 4K amaray with same discs content

It's not a steelbook repackaged with previous older blu-ray like it was in 2015

It's a shared print run European release
Price in Europe will vary but you can expect steelbook to be around €33 to €39 with various retailers in europe and with each retailer only getting limited amount of stock a big price drop be unlikely

Have to admit as much as i love the film the price is way too high. The likes of Arrow I don't mind paying that sort of money for their special editions as they are specialist labels and do serious work but this is a major studio which is funding this and can afford to be cheaper.

As mentioned earlier it's crazy that the 3 disc amaray is 35 pounds when the same 3 disc amaray is 23 american dollars on Amazon.com.

USA pricing of home media is different to Europe/Asia markets
RRP price in USA is $44 for 4K amaray
Some US retailers have big file discounts with distributors so they can afford to drop prices on some releases and is why they do a lot of price matching

UK prices you would compare with UK retailers and some Europe retailers not USA

Despite being so expensive, it appears to be sold out, which with catalog title I’m kinda amazed but considered it’s 2001 UHD that would possible...
