Please... oh please let Leo finally win! He was nominated in the past forThe Wolf of Wall Street (2014), Blood Diamond (2005) and The Aviator (2005), but never won...
And he has such an amazing carreer with Django, Inception, Departed, Catch me if you can and others :cough: Titanic :cough:

@Drum18 He is the front runner for sure this year.

I'm curious if Star Wars will get nominated at all? Or if Mad Max will get a best picture nod?
For Star Wars, probably in the technical prizes... and for Mad Max, after ALLLLLLLL the praise from both the critics AND public, it better get at least a nod... if not better!

The last years I nearly watched all the Oscar/Globe movies in the cinema, won't be able to manage it this year. But, besides the fact that I didn't enjoy DiCaprios performance as much as many of his other roles, he really has to win this time. Very intense!

Not sure about the big categories, but in my opinion there's no way The Revenant doesn't win best cinematography. The camera work was just stunning!

Looks like Guillermo del Toro, John Krasinski, and Ang Lee are going to announce the Oscar nominations Thursday morning.

Must have seen a different Mad Max to me . Half the movies are not out in the U.K yet . Usually the case though.

Would like to see Southpaw come out with a nod or two . Best movie of last year for me .

Pretty safe list... which isn't surprising considering how the Oscars usually stink.

Leo should win, but with Cranston, Redmayne and Fassbender in there, I wouldn't be surprised if this is another upset.

I don't agree with Mad Max being up for Best Picture, either. That film was an explosive technical achievement in every sense, but the 'drive there, drive back' storyline was bore. Not to mention that it feels like a Furiosa film with Max only thrown in because that's the only way George Miller could get the cash to make the film.

I'm surprised the Academy didn't give in to the mass fan pressure of giving more nominations to Star Wars.

Vin Diesel must be pretty sad this morning that Furious 7 received nothing (not surprising, but he was pushing for it).

Tough call with the Star Wars vs. The Hateful Eight battle for Best Score.

Some tough choices there... usually I know straight away what/who I want to win, but this year there's a couple in each category that I think are deserving of the award.

Best Picture - Room (I think The Revenant will win, which I'd be happy with... same goes for if Mad Max won it)
Best Director - *same as above*
Best Actor - Leonardo DiCaprio (haven't seen Trumbo or The Danish Girl yet, but I doubt either will top Leo's performance)
Best Actress - Brie Larson (I wasn't a fan of Carol, but I reckon Blanchett will probably win it. I wouldn't mind if Saoirse Ronan won though, and I'd be annoyed if Jennifer Lawrence won over the others)
Best Supporting Actor - Tom Hardy (would've gone for Mark Rylance if he had more screentime in the film. I'd also be happy to see Stallone win, just because lol)
Best Supporting Actress - Jennifer Jason Leigh (Kate Winslet was phenomenal too though. Can't comment on Alicia Vikander as I'm yet to see The Danish Girl)

I'm not sure of the rules when it comes to most award shows (is there an age restriction for nominees?), but I would love to have seen Jacob Tremblay nominated for his role in Room, which was A-MAZ-ING!

disagree. driving there and back maybe plot, but there is no denying it's done so well that simple plot does not bother (me at least) at all. acting, directing, production etc are excellent. IMO.

can't really comment on these any further as have not seen most of them. I do not go to movies. at all. so have to wait for blu-ray release.

Most people do disagree and that's fine... to each their own. That said, visually, it's amazing. Music and sound design... amazing. Cinematography... amazing. Charlize's performance... amazing. Overall story and Tom Hardy's performance = mediocre at best.
