Missed out again!

Damn you scalpers!

Bet there wasn't an order limit and within 30 days of release I guess a couple of hundred will appear on evilbay.

Really wanted this.

If ebay lately is anything to go by you'll probably get one cheaper. I've seen some stargates go for (after fees) less than what they retailed for, scalpers are barely getting any profit on these zavvi titles, hopefully soon they'll just give up

As opposed to an email saying you can pre-order BEFORE it actually goes live?

I realise you enjoy being the devils advocate but seriously. They 'could' release an email stating that an item is available to order in advance - other sites do this and state start times or do it via sites such as HDN (and we clearly have some links). They could also send out the email saying the item is available WHEN it is available as opposed to two hours later. I got my email at 2pm today, by which point most copies will have gone already. So I obviously took issue with them sending the email hours later but then I guess you already knew that. If people can't see why that would be upsetting then I dunno what to say.

What exciting stuff steelbook collecting is!!! You win some, you lose some...
My hats off to Zavvi. Now everyone is going to be glued to their website day & night...very clever strategy, and really that's what it's all about.
Now I know why I find collecting steelbooks a BUZZ.
If it was easy...then it would get boring. I lost a lot of sleep trying to secure Frozen from Kimchi last week with no success, I was VERY upset...one week later, by luck, I snag a couple of these and feel justice has been done.
Good on you Zavvi...keep it coming...and by the way, very happy about these Ultra Limited Editions of 2000...in my opinion you have the numbers about right. I feel I buy something special & collectable...isn't that the point? But in a free society, everyone has an opinion, and that's mine!!!:movie::)

Ps...Thought an opinion was a bit more interesting than just saying...ordered.

What about some sort of zavvi membership where you pay a yearly fee (which would give you a 10%? discount on your orders) but more importantly you would get advance notice or a guarantee of 1 copy of any new releases.

As far as I can remember, most of Zavvi's recent releases have gone live on a weekend, so if you had to work weekends, how annoyed would you be that you could never have a chance of ordering one of these limited releases? This one went live on a monday, so really it's a bit of variety with their days, maybe giving a different group of people the chance to buy? I was lucky with this, I got home from work, looked on here, ordered one and it went OOS 5 minutes later. I am not preaching because I managed to get a copy, there has been plenty I have missed out on due to being at work, just saying that no matter when they go live some people will be working and unable to order.

sorry snooloui i got to disagree with you there last 4 emails i have had announcing that item is going to be able to pre-order one of them was 1hr 1/2 after item had gone live so that sort shoots that theory out the water. There emails are slow to when an item is live to when an email is recieved!

also still doesn't help when can't get computer access at work either, now i know thats not your fault personally but its still not helping anyone either. there is still an issue there or are you saying email is sent out and anyone misses it, your own tough luck?

I wrote to Zavvi asking the same thing...... No response !

Sorry if I misunderstood, your original post did state that you were unhappy that it went live in the middle of a monday.

No need to apologise, it was partly my fault for not having my thoughts phrased properly in my mind before commenting. I agree completely with chunk, in that a little notice would be the fairest way to give people who may not be around/awake a chance to make arrangements so that they can get a copy if they want one one.

I think what's become most confusing about the whole thing is that Zavvi have gone from a near universally consistent pattern (live approx 18:00 UK time on a Saturday) to suddenly releasing at seemingly arbitrary times and days. It's not even as if one can make an educated guess as to when to be around any more.

Yeah, I did vent a bit about it going live mid-Monday, and I still think it's a bit of a silly time, but I understand that Zavvi offer (almost) worldwide shipping and even if it's a UK based company, I'm not selfish enough to ask for others to get short-shifted for my benefit. All I'm asking for is perhaps a bit more consistency and a little heads up, because I'm a little worried that missing out because I'm not able to check this website and Zavvi's every few hours is going to become a more common occurrence.

Anyway, congratulations for all those who managed to get their orders in; it's a good film, a great looking steelbook, and I only hope I can grab one later if/when cancellations come back up.

only by luck did i check my phone at 1.00pm to find that this was live, quickly ordered a copy. constantly checked this thread all weekend to see if it had went live and very surprised to see it had as most zavvi orders are at about 6.00pm on a saturday. my sympathies to anyone who missed out due to such a ridiculous start time as zavvi now has a lot of pissed-off customers who lost out on this one. don't know if any of the moderators can help but if so please ask the suppliers to release their items at a set time so that we all know when these items are going live to save people getting ripped off further by the scalpers getting rich by buying multiple copies

Zavvi gave advanced notice on the recent Warner titles but some still missed them and moaned about it, blaming everyone but themselves. In this instance, I can totally understand people being annoyed, but everyone had the same opportunity to grab a copy, it's unfortunate that some didn't manage to. I don't know why you would take issue with the email system though, it was still available when you received the email, so it didn't affect your ability to order it.

I don't even receive the emails, so a late email is better than no email at all in my view. It is unfortunate that you don't internet access at work but ultimately every collector has issues they have to try and work around.

Fortunately the majority of the time, Zavvi does give us advanced notice of upcoming pre-orders but I guess sometimes that isn't possible. Many think it is simply that Zavvi couldn't be bothered or are simply useless but it could be a case of Lionsgate not wanting the information to be revealed. Alternatively it could be that Zavvi's site struggles to cope with increased traffic when pre-orders go live which is exacerbated when advanced notice is given. Those are just a couple of purely speculative but perfectly sensible explanations in my opinion.

Son-of-FU**ING-Ninja *****!!!! I missed out on this! Thanks Harry for the "LIVE" notice, I tried pre-ordering it earlier but my piece of $hit phone wouldn't load the PayPal page!!! :violent:

I was really looking forward to this release :( oh well...

I would have bought this if Zavvi hadnt pulled the old 'release it on a Monday when most of their customers are at work' trick. I dont have internet access at work and the mobile signal is terrible, I can barely get a 3G signal to load up twitter or facebook so attempting to order a bluray from a website is impossible, Zavvi are a business selling a product, they dont give a monkeys who buys it...dont mind me, Im just the mug who supported you when you first started this steelbook lark who now cant get a look in...lol

Oh well, thats another £20 saved...

Timing could have been better, but bear in mind in Europe we cannot even order a paperclip from Target/ Best Buy/ Futureshop etc. Can we stop bashing Zavvi please? V for Vendetta and this one, there will be 2nd opportunity! For sure.
