'71 (Blu-ray SteelBook) (Zavvi Exclusive) [UK]

First of all, does anyone know why this SteelBook was delayed? The studio released this film last week, yet we have had to wait longer for a SteelBook version. Surely there should be some kind of compensation for the inconvenience? After all, when we place a pre-order we enter into a contract with the retailer to deliver said film on the date advertised, and in this instance they have failed to do so. Why should everyone who bought a standard Amaray version be able to watch this on day one, but those who pay a premium for the SteelBook have to wait? We should be entitled to a partial refund at least! A courtesy eMail from Zavvi to apologise for the delay would have been something...
Secondly, has anyone actually had theirs shipped, or actually received their SteelBook? Tick tock, eleven days later and I still can't watch this film!

Zavvi really don't do themselves any favours with this kind of practice, along with generic replies to customer enquiries which usually don't provide us with the answers we're hoping for and steelbook announcements which leave us hanging for months on end only to give us a 'here's what you could have had' end result, ie ' f@@k all'.
A bit strong? A bit negative? Maybe, but most of us have been let down by Zavvi at some point, let's face it........

You sure your order had been charged last Friday and was not for a different order
My order has not been charged yet and I have had this on pre order from day 1 of going live
Zavvi don't take payment until ready for despatch
What payment method did you use
Yes definitely for this. I had 2 charges of £19.99 come out within a day or so of each other. The other would have been for The Imitation Game. The next steelbook for release that I have pre-ordered is Paddington but that is £20.99.

Check your order history on zavvi website for Previous Orders and despatched emails
Did you order this with anything else
Its easy to forget if you placed another order and forgot about it
If everyone had of had their order charged you would have seen lot of post that they been charged

I originally ordered early on upon going live but I decided to re-order this along with a few other as my card was due to expire so yes it is in an order with The Imitation Game, Whiplash, Into the Woods & Paddington.

It must be a glitch if your the only one who been charged as no one else has had their order listed as been charged and despatched
I'm wondering whether Zavvi have some financial troubles with StudioCanal? If so, this might suddenly disappear from their site and reappear elsewhere (Ie, Amazon.co.uk or maybe unannounced in HMV stores). Keep your eyes peels guys!
A bit off that Zavvi aren't keeping their customers informed though. Many collectors will have budget for this month, but now have to keep that cash sitting around just in case Zavvi suddenly push the release date back by a few weeks. I now have over £100 tied up for SteelBook pre-orders which haven't been dispatched yet, but which were supposed to have been earlier this week. There's no telling if / when these will ever dispatch, or even if StudioCanal are looking for another retailer to distribute their stock

I was thinking the same thing. Didn't they have to close their high street stores already?
Hope they're not headed the way of the original play.com.
ZAVVI certainly know how to take the edge off steelbook collecting. We REALLY need another retailer to supply us with exclusives which ZAVVI clearly seem to be struggling to fulfil as of late. Just when I thought they couldn't add another nail to their coffin they come up with some thing else.

Zavvi's stores where not owned by the hut group, but when they closed, the hut group bought the name and opened the online shop and just traded with the name. Having said that, i have noticed a decline in there ebay inventory and a huge drop in sales (looking at feedback ratings), so its likely they are cutting costs across the board and delaying payment to suppliers, be interesting to know what credit terms studiocanal give Zavvi, ie 30, 60, 90 days? I doubt Zavvi will ever become a marketplace disaster like play, they'll either reduce product lines or shutdown.
And its coming upto 2 weeks since i should have had this (yes, i didn't cancel), and havent heard a thing....
What i want to know is why NOBODY from this site can give us any details about why this is happening with Zavvi!!!
I thought the mods here had close ties with Zavvi???? Why the silence, in my opinion that's just as bad as Zavvi's care for it's loyal steelbook customers!!!
Until i hear any different my thinking is Zavvi have oversaturated themselves with steelbooks and have run into trouble with paying for them!!!!

With the prices Zavvi charge for steelbooks it really is not a surprise....see what happens when theydrop the price...people buy them!!!
People won't pay outrageous high prices, the stock hangs around for ages!!!!

We only pass on the information that is given to us. If we haven't heard anything then we can't tell you what's going on. If there is any news then it will be posted in the thread. Thanks for your understanding.
The Zavvi link says 'sold out' and it is no longer showing on the site, as jailbird_joey said. I cancelled mine due to the delay and thought it was overpriced. Don't believe this has sold out though. I would buy it if the price was lowered but can't yet as it has disappeared.
