For those who dont know it is often typical for studios to do a small amount past the print run to cover damages and/or use for in house promos etc.

Towards the end of fiscal years this stock can also be shifted to retailers etc if they so choose to purchase.

This is your friendly HDN alert that Zavvi will most likely be taking on this amount of stock

AVIATOR, THE
175 QTY
(sold out-live the other day)

THERE WILL BE BLOOD
100 QTY
(Sold out)

BOY IN STRIPED PYJAMAS, THE
100 QTY
(Live)

FROM DUSK TILL DAWN
40 QTY
(Sold out)
The stock when live probably wont last longer than a day. (or a few hours...)

But we were able to talk with Zavvi and allowed to share this info as a step further in their commitment to collectors.

ps. im sure if it goes live and you think you can place an order for 100 its gonna get canceled. ;)

Join the queue mate.

I think we've been stung by scalpers, would-be scalpers and a few kite flyers hanging in there to stir things.

Pretty sure that those who ordered more than one copy will be refused seeing there was only 100 to go at. time will tell.

Surely time has come for Zavvi to check customers ISPs as a matter of course. If ISP doesn't show no sale, if ISP is linked to several accounts no sale, end of!

Simples :)

I can almost guarantee that people that ordered more than one will not get their orders canceled. I'd willing to bet on that, too. The company is only worried about selling as many copies as they can. Not gonna fault them for that, either.

Jack, good points clearly founded in a collector mentality vs business or reseller one, which are 2 different things that coexist at every collectibles site or market place. I think if there was a limit that could enforced per order, this would be easier. But, as it always has been, people can find their way around those ways to track members and create new accounts with bogus addresses and order x copies that way anyway...been happening for years, whether a big retailer, small retailer, big run or small run.

For our own trading rules for group buys for instance, if an item is limited we ask the host to restrict per member copies, so that 'more' of our members can actually add it to their collection. But, everyone knows there are resellers who will go to some length to acquire them in larger qty's. Where there is a will there is a way around systems and processes. Most of our hosts here now are fully aware that as a Staff we remain advocates for our members to try to cut down on scalping, and they are proud to preserve that any chance they can. But when you're dealing with automated systems, and some 'checks' not programmed in, and or, are a big businesses, then of course the goal is to be able to sell a product successfully, as well. We've heard of people making up 10 and 20 accounts (this one instance was not for Zavvi), and then sending stock to their neighbors, and other crazy things.

Please help us stay on track here, folks...and, any 'general' retailer policies can always be discussed in the retailer threads at greater length.

Keep talking like that and I'll make a good socialist of you yet :)

I do believe the ISP check could be built in - something would have to be done about different regions as out Antipodean friend said - perhaps releasing portions of stock to regions according to the ISPs (which are obviously tied to a location)?

Okay, think I've had enough of this for now . . .

Haha, Jack, no problem-I'll be locking this one as the bulk of the sale is now over, and this was really meant to be a 'community alert' for a limited time so our members became aware of the availability. Other chat can go here in the Zavvi retailer thread for anyone else that has general comments. Thanks all!
