Strangely, Zavvi has put this up £1 - now showing at £20.99 - all the others remain the same, I wonder if this will be the price for future releases or zavvi cashing a bit extra in for on the low stock remaining.

They are trying to get back the cost for the old dirty pieces of bubble wrap they put inside each mailer now.

I spent almost 1.5 hours gently messaging my dented Alice steelbook and to my surprise I managed to rub the steelbook back into half-way decent shape.

At least now it is presentable. My fingertips, though, now hurt like hell.
Retailer hell is where I would send Zavvi if I were God.

Received mine finally. Unfortunately the new packaging had taken it's roll on another steelbook. There are scratches and a paint chip on the back, and there's a dent on the back spine edge.

After all those freaking emails for months and months about this, and now I have to email them.

Received mine yesterday in the new cardboard box/sleeve with bubble wrap around it. It was in mint condition and am now waiting for Robin Hood and hoping for the same results.

Did this release had the paint stretches in the corners as something common? Cause my copy got them but otherwise it's in perfect conditions. To know if I should bother to ask Zavvi for a replacement or not.

Got my 2 Robin Hoods in perfect condition, so I've got no problems with Zavi's packaging. To be fair, are we certain that the packaging is responsible for scratches on the steel? So it was the bubble wrap or foam that caused the scratches?! Doesn't sound logical to me. Don't forget there is always a degree of manufacture defect in anything that is manufactured. So blaming it on the packaging is not entirely realistic. Zavi's packaging gets a solid 8.5 out of 10 for me. It could be in a sturdier box, but I've had worst packaging than this.

Don't get me wrong but isn't this comment supposed to go in the Zavvi retailers thread instead of here?

oh good god. EEK!
Nobody EVER said the bubble wrap/foam damaged the steelbook. The lack of protection it offers is what the problem is.

In response to my asking for a replacement for the damaged, I got offered 15%. Lets see what the next offer is.

Who thinks it'll be 20%, who thinks it'll be an actual replacement?

Oh my mistake. I coulda sworn I've seen multiple pics of scratched steels posted. As for the dents, how do you know it wasn't from manufacturing, and not the packaging? Just a thought.

End user / buyer cares about receiving undamaged item(s). If it occurred during manufacturing then Zavvi should pay more attention on the quality control side and someone on the QC side should be asking the questions you posed. As a buyer, the perception is that the packaging is insufficient thus leading to damaged items as there is no evidence of other factors. Just my general opinion.

I feel like the scratches are manufacturing, as it was under the j-card as well as mine actually has a right angle of scratches which just seems like something in manufacturing.

But I think the dent is from shipping.

Well if its the manufacturing , then say its the manufacturing instead of having countless posts blaming the packaging, capice? Besides, no one can really say for absolute certainty that its either or. Both scenerios are feasible.

Not to derail the thread but I think you are connecting 2 issues that most are not connecting. There are complaints about packaging and complaints about the QC issues ( scratches and paint etc. ). People are complaining about both but not saying they are a result of packaging or even related as you imply.

People really want gloss instead of matte right now and this is part of the risk of gloss steelbooks. They need much better quality control throughout the entire process (Manufacturing, handling, and shipping etc). Any sloppiness along the way results in these chips and scratches.
