This was released with 3D right?

I'll wait and see if Fox do a FAC release.
It was filmed in 2D
3D release in Cinemas Fox cancelled as they cancelled the 3D conversion

It's only been shown in Cinemas in 2D and IMAX 2D

Only way we will see a 3D Blu-ray release is if they in the future do a 3D conversion and I doubt that will happen
They are pushing 4K UHD on this release

I recall them being dearer, but I thought it was around £5, not £10
Blu-ray releases when first released was very expensive in 2006/2007 in the UK
New Film Releases on Blu-ray prices in UK was £25 to £30 and some releases cost lot more than £30.00
Back Catalouge Films on Blu-Ray in 2006/2007 was £20 to £25 compared to DVD release costing around £12 or less

Cheers for that Paul. This is the sort of thing I find fascinating.
Like the starting prices for things like DVDs and VHS tapes (yes I am that old...).

I went to see it in IMAX today.....yes the movie has flaws but overall enjoyed it very much! I think its better then Prometheus but I still loved that too.
They had posters to give away today but sadly in the rush to leave I forgot to pick one up! :(

That's a massive shame about "3d" ! If 4k continues to be pushed like this (at the expense of 3d), then it will be time to quit collecting altogether and just stick with the cinema !? How bright and colourful can they go with each new next gen upgrade (dvd more colour and better stable picture, blu ray 6×resolution more colour sharper brighter, 4k uhd (sounds like milk to me) 4×normal blu ray resolution, even brighter more colurful !? Its like the magic roundabout. The real truth is, Hollywood etc don't understand what 3d is about or should be; depth, 3d stand out of screen special effect and so on. It was sad watching such a wasted attempt at bringing us a logical positive step forward in a "NEW" viewing experience ! Not just a "hype" in resolution !? Roll on 3d 32k suhd disc shape format and steelbooks of the future ! Nah forget it, i now want "VR" uploaded to my "eye-phone", anywhere, anytime, anyfilm ! Ps. I actually heard 4k being sold over 3d as "the picture quality is so high, it's like 3d anyway" ???? Oh dear. Pps. I love 4k, AND 3d by the way !

If you 'loved' prometheus and you think it is 'better' then I will go with a lower expectation. Thanks for the heads up!

The STUPIDEST thing of all: OLED HDR WCG was finally the PERFECT delivery system for 3D.

Yes - the first VHS release of a Doctor Who story was Revenge of the Cybermen in 1983, which retailed at £39.95 - equivalent to an incredible £130 today when taking inflation in to account!

Subsequent re-releases retailed at £29.95 and £24.95 before being re-released yet again in 1986 at what became the 'standard' price for VHS tapes at that time - £9.99. Although that still equates to over £25 in today's money!! EEK!

By the way, you can do the inflation calculations here: http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/...tion-calculator-value-money-changed-1900.html

Just ordered a copy. I attended the Alien Film Day and got my ticket for this in the process. I thought the film was really good, not exceptional, but damn good and looking forward to where they are going to go from here in the future. The steel book will go just right next to the others. But yes, sadly no 3D with the film in anyway shape or form and just one of those victims of 4K being pushed more over 3D... not a fan of that at all!

Oh god, in that case I'm expecting a major disappointment! :wtf: I didn't think Prometheus was a bad movie, just thought it was very slow and could had more potential.

Yeah it's frustrating. As with most things, people need to have a little patience for the tech to be perfected. The same thing's already happening with VR. The tech is pretty fantastic now, but people are already saying it's a failure, blah blah blah

As for big franchise films like this - there's no excuse for not letting people enjoy it on their format of choice (n)

I DO like that James Cameron is saying that the blu ray release of his next Avatar will be 3D only:rofl:
He kinda started the 3D ball rolling this time, and dammit if he isn't gonna use his weight!
He is almost forcing LG and Smasung to bring back 3D models when Avatar 2 hits!
