Per Hollywoodreporter:

Never heard of Alien Day? Well, get ready, because it's coming April 26.

Reebok Alien Stompers, the shoes worn by Sigourney Weaver in the 1980s classic Aliens, are coming back to planet Earth.

As part of Alien Day, which is intended to be akin to Back to the Future Day and Star Wars’ May the 4th, Fox is unveiling a slew ofAlien-related merchandise coinciding with April 26. (The date is connected to the planet known as LV-426, which is key to Alienlore.)

Reebok is releasing an exact replica of the Alien high-top Stompers worn by Weaver as Ellen Ripley. Also being released is the mid-top version worn by Lance Henriksen as the android Bishop. The sneakers will be available beginning April 26 at Reebok.com and select Reebok stores worldwide.

The Stompers hold a unique place in movie history. The shoes were made by the company specifically for the James Cameron film and became, along with Back to the Future’s Nike Air Mag, some of cinema’s most famous footwear.

Reebok released a version of the shoe a year after the movie opened, but only for a limited time. The shoes have enjoyed a revival in recent years, with cosplayers making their own and certain shops creating custom versions.

Most iterations were not the high-top model but the mid-top, making the new shoes faithful to what was seen onscreen.

As part of Alien Day, certain Alamo theater locations are showing a double feature of Alien and Aliens, and Amazon’s Audible will release a brand-new audio drama, Alien: Out of the Shadows, starring Rutger Hauer, the '80s actor best known for starring in Blade Runner. Among other activities planned is an online trivia challenge in which movie fans can win prizes every 42.6 minutes on Twitter.

it goes up for pre order in may. no price yet.
the maquette stands at just over 20 inches high.
Their last 20" maquette was Godzilla... and that was $800. Start saving your pennies!
20"? Damn! I still want it even though I don't have a place for it.
And $800? :dead: I might have to give up movie collecting to get this  or I hope they have a "16 split payment" option

@jvules If you do find the exact preorder date, lemme know :notworthy::thumbs:

Didn't even know about it. Wtf is Alien day?? Lol

I'd go for sure if it was near me. But something as awesome as that, I would assume is in Tokyo (aka $200 return from mine)
Yesterday was Alien Day. April 26. (4/26 - as in LV-426 the planet where we discovered the Alien).
It is a commercialized thingy like Star Wars May 4th ("May the 4th be with you").Yesterday, tons of merchants sold special Alien related products. Japan apparently went extra nuts!
Did it not say on that web site where all this was in Japan? ( I was too busy to actually read the thing!)

Think it might be at this store:

Will head there the next time I go to Tokyo for sure.

And apparently they were only available in men's sizes, lol. Probably due to the assumption that only men watch action flicks, therefore there would only be a demand for men. It was a cool idea, but seems like Reebok's PR got a little farked up according to Gizmodo....

Ellen Ripley, the lead character of the Alien films, is one of the most iconic female heroes in cinema history. And today, during the celebration of the franchise of which she’s the star, her fans have been screwed over in an incredibly crappy way.

Today is being hailed as “Alien Day” because April 26 (i.e. 4/26) matches the planet’s name in the first two films, LV-426. One of the most exciting promotions tied to “Alien Day” was Reebok’s decision to release a limited edition shoe based on the pair Ripley (played by Sigourney Weaver) wore inAliens. The shoes, called “Alien Stompers,” went on sale at noon EST and all 426 available pairs quickly sold out.

It’s a shame they didn’t make more shoes available, but that’s fine. What isn’tfine is the discovery that when the shoes went on sale, they were only available in men’s sizes 8-12. Yes, the shoes worn by one of the most famous female characters in movie history were only released in men’s sizes.

As you can see there, the shoes were listed as “Men Classics,” which is acategory on the Reebok website. The actual page is gone, because the shoes have sold out.

We contacted a representative for Reebok, who told us the following: “The Alien Stompers were released in men’s sizes due to retail demand.”

Adding insult to injury, Monday the Reebok Classic Twitter account said only 36 pairs were actually available, which is insane considering the company had been promoting this for weeks. However, that may have just been the United States, because a Reebok representative said, “426 pairs were available worldwide, to honour planet LV426 in the film.” (A low-top version worn by Lance Henriksen’s character Bishop was also scheduled for release.) But that’s all besides the point. This is horrible—and it seems insane no one at Reebok recognized the problem here.

Meanwhile, if you still want the shoes, you can get the kicks on eBay for buckets and buckets of cash. Dudes only.

Update: Several hours after this article was originally posted, we were contacted again by Reebok. We were told the person who gave us the original quote “was not authorized to give a statement” and that this was the real statement.

The Alien Stomper was mis-categorized on our US website as a men’s shoe. While size availability varied by market, the Alien Stomper is a unisex style and was produced in sizes (US Men’s) 3.5 – 12, which is a typical size range for a unisex model.

Currently we have not found evidence of the shoes being available in these smaller sizes, and have asked Reebok for additional information.
