Next time. If it arrives damaged. Throw it across the room and say it arrived like "that" they won't dispute the damage then.
:LOL::rofl:

I would not on purpose cause damage that was not there in the first place just keep at them for a refund or replacement
You can be refused a refund or replacement if you on purpose cause damage to a item you received
If it was originally damaged just look for a refund or replacement for that reason not create damage that did not happen

I hear they like closing people's accounts if you receive too many damaged items though, as they probably assume people actually do what you said... something I'd never purposely do FYI. @Flloydo knows all about this! I realise you were probably joking by the way. ;)

@Noodles, upload that new pic, please.
The damage was obvious from the first pic but we would like to see what angle did you use now to snap the huge dent. Thanks :)
I pretty much went with the same angle, since it's the best way to show the damage. The dent isn't actually that deep, so it's hard to pick up on camera (especially as the steel is glossy and therefore quite reflective), but it's very noticeable in hand. Thing is, I'm usually not even that picky with steels, so those paint chips I would've just filled in with a sharpie... it's the dent that I can't accept.

Here's the new photo (the white blurs are clouds lol) as requested...

Yeah, people did lose their accounts for giving Zavvi legitimate or non-legitimate complaints. Which is horrible in both aspects.

Thanks for sharing the pic, @Noodles.
I think you'll have to make a few more pics so that 2 inch dent can be seen as best as possible.
I see a dent but blind zavvi automated copy paste respond person would write the same thing as before. They might even argue that it's just light reflecting on the surface.

Try taking a few pics with no flash pointed in direction of the light then do the opposite - turn the steelbook away from the light and use flash and snap a few pics from different angles. That dent should be visible from outer space.

Report back :)

Literally just received another reply from them, and their response is pretty much what I predicted in a previous post...

"As a gesture of goodwill we would like to offer a refund of 15%."

Thanks mate. Will use your advice if they continue to refuse a full refund.

Your steelbook isn't too bad at all. You would think they would take it back after you have refused their 15% off gesture and then re-seal and sell it on ... may be some one that isn't fussy will keep it.

But no.

They want it to be severely damaged.

I have a feeling they prefer visible dings / scratches so they can rob Royal Mail or Hermes or whatever for mis handling the item. It becomes an endless cycle of claims.

I do not like the look of the steelbook art but I do still want it for my collection. Sort of tempted at the current price of £9.99. I've tried using various discount codes with no luck so far. Think I'm going to take the risk and wait for a further price drop though!

I can't imagine anyone accepting it in this condition to be honest, and I'm not even the pickiest of steelbook collectors (I have many steels with spine slashes and the occasional scratch etc). I've never received a steelbook with a dent like this though, as it's not exactly a harsh dent... it's more like a smooth dip in the steel, if that makes sense. The damage wasn't even caused during delivery either... the box it came in was in better condition than the steelbook, so it was obviously damaged before being dispatched... not that I'm saying they sent it to me in this condition on purpose (although, that wouldn't surprise me), as the dent was hard to spot when sealed and actually just looked like a stretched/loose area of the shrink wrap, which is why I opened it. Will see what they say anyway... thankfully it was a different person with better eye sight that replied this time. :watch:

Wait till you get an already opened steelbook with no disc inside, and then told that you obviously have opened it yourself and are after a cheeky discount:naughty:, as happened to me TWICE!!!!, sorry to be off topic but thought it would be ok with you being a mod:).

Damn, that's awful. Thankfully I've never been that unlucky, and hopefully never will be either! Praying my replacement arrives in better condition, because I don't fancy my chances with trying to return another copy. :ohno:

Yeah I had my account closed, quite a few on here have actually and asked my advice when it happened to them at the time.

The thing that bothered me was I had about 20 pre orders at the time and they refused to cancel them, refused to talk about my deleted account, and told me any pre orders i have Will still be sent out will still be charged and I wouldn't be able to send any back on a closed account for refunds or replacements. It was the worst customer service I've ever experienced so then i was in talks with one of their heads of the department for quite a while and finally got them to agree to cancel.

Luckily my card I had the pre orders on had expired becuase about 9 months after they closed that account I had two payment problems for orders that they didn't cancel. They are extremely cheeky.
What annoyed me was all my returns were for replacements and only if it wasn't in stock I would accept the partial refund which they offered to me everytime!! Or send it back for a refund

So I do still use them but I don't have no where near as many pre orders and I only use them 99% of the time on big price drops.
I was disgusted by their service and they lost quite a loyal customer through that charade (hense why I give them grief at times on here)

I've had one turn up like a banana before and I've had bad damage like noodles where the box is fine so they clearly sent it out that way!
I think I had a UV code missing once too

It happened just one time with Zavvi that I received a sealed steelbook without a disc. They offered a replacement which was cool.
Same thing happened when ordering The Goonies from amazon. Received it broken in half - no plastic and the disc was missing. I received an immediate replacement within 2 days - amazon PRIME :)

There were a lot of complaints from me to zavvi about scratches and dents clearly visible with a naked eye (no microscope needed to spot them) but they still made a big deal about it.
I once asked them if they are willing to lose a loyal customer (I had a huge dispute with Zavvi) and they said that it's my choice entirely if I don't wish to shop with them anymore. They are horrible in every aspect and I hate dealing with them if there's an issue of some kind.

@Noodles, are you getting a replacement or will you get a partial refund?

What a horrible situation... just when I think they can't get any lower, they somehow find a way! Think I would've contacted my bank and told them to block payment requests from Zavvi.

@Noodles, are you getting a replacement or will you get a partial refund?
I've put in a separate order for a new copy and will be demanding a full refund for the damaged one. ;)

I truly believe that HDN should boycott a new release, purely to send out a clear message of complaint about the service we all suffer.

However, that would take a mod to name the release and publicise that protest on here in a new thread. The forum members would certainly appreciate that unified response.

This post will soon be moved to an obscure thread tucked away somewhere near outer Mongolia and Uzbekistan.
