Special announcement, April 15 2014
hey guys, official announcement from ES.

Hi,

Thank you for pre-ordering the Anchorman 2 SteelBook with the Entertainment Store.

We have received advanced copies of the product and have noticed that through the manufacturing process there has been a small amount of stretching on the corners of the SteelBook. We have been assured by the manufacturer of the SteelBook, Scanavo, that this is a manufacturing trait associated with the high gloss finished that has been used. Please see link below for an image of the stretching.

Whilst this is a manufacturing trait we do appreciate that for some customers this could potentially be a problem. We are contacting you ahead of shipping the product to highlight this trait to give you the opportunity to change your mind on your order before we ship you the product.

We will of course accept all returns and provide a full refund if you are unsatisfied with the product once your receive it in line with our standard terms and conditions.

Thank you for your custom,

The Entertainment Store

A lot of anger at ES in here!

Didn't we already establish that the studios are setting the prices on these exclusives and the retailer is just selling them? I know ES don't have to release it but it only then goes to the next retailer.

The price is what it is. Studio is the one to blame here though :(

I guess the real test is whether it sells or not.

Pain and Gain was the same studio with a 1k print run and was cheaper than this.

Ive got agree with Blusteel2012. This could be amazing if they pull off everything that they say it has.

It might not sell out before release but once live pics surface, it could go like hot cakes.

Not so long ago i paid £23 for KA2 on Amazon and that was a 1 disc release. It is a gorgeous steel and worth every penny imo.

This could be the same. If not better imo.

I think ill put in an order even though the price is slightly off-putting and decide whether to keep it or not nearer the time. I dont see much point in hoping for a price drop as ES rarely ever drop the price of their new releases.

People didn't seem to have a problem paying this much for WWZ.

This is still a new release, has 2 discs, WEA, instead of the 3D it has embossed front AND back AND gloss finish :dunno:

I never bought wwz es because of the price.

Also i never bought jack reacher es for the same reason.

This is priced like a 2k or even 1k print run.

4k is the problem here.

But that doesn't mean that there is foul play from ES, it just means there is inconsistent pricing from the studio.

I wasn't saying that the price was brilliant or that I wouldn't prefer it to be lower. I was saying that if people are annoyed or angry(!) about the pricing then they would do better to vent that towards the studio when it comes to price instead of ES.

Excuse me is this a joke? I expected this to be around the £18 - £20 area. You can expect this kind of pricing with extremely limited releases, or the inclusion of a 3D disc. But what does this have? Nothing! Nothiiing! Whether it is the studio or the retailer they are just trying to push the boundaries to see what people are willing to pay. And this will have crossed the line for most. I have all ES Steelbooks so far and was still gonna pre-order this. But that would be feeding the monkey. And really don't want too. Not at this price. This will not stand man, this price hiking will not stand.

If you own all of the ES releases so far, then why were you expecting £18-£20?

On a serious note if studios/resellers think that they can get away with selling Steels without 3D, UV copies etc at this price then I fear for the future of the steels in the UK.

Play sold The Raid for £14.99 or thereabouts and it had debossing back and front, that's a great deal, ES are just taking advantage of steelbook collectors with their ridiculous prices

£24.99 might have got me considering it. But £25.99, definite pass. World War Z was around this price and it had a 3D disc! I know that we don't have to buy it, but I love a good steelbook. They should at least include a DVD copy or digital copy. It's just a shame Paramount can't release affordable steels. :(

It would be interesting to see a poll to see how many people who had planned to get this have changed thier mind due to price

Can you create a poll on this forum?! (Sorry, I'm still new!) Something which we could then all send the link for to ES! :naughty: even if it's not them that set the price they could feed the info back to the studio no?!

I would buy it at £19.99 max but £17.99 seems more reasonable :movie:

But that steel was split around Europe and Korea so not strictly 1K. If this is just for the UK and nowhere else gets it then it could (and that's a very strained 'could') be worth it in the long run. Look at Rush, WEA, most likely a 4K run (albeit an lot cheaper) and people can't get enough.

Be interesting to see if this is still UK exclusive in 3 to 6 months.
