Special announcement, April 15 2014
hey guys, official announcement from ES.

Hi,

Thank you for pre-ordering the Anchorman 2 SteelBook with the Entertainment Store.

We have received advanced copies of the product and have noticed that through the manufacturing process there has been a small amount of stretching on the corners of the SteelBook. We have been assured by the manufacturer of the SteelBook, Scanavo, that this is a manufacturing trait associated with the high gloss finished that has been used. Please see link below for an image of the stretching.

Whilst this is a manufacturing trait we do appreciate that for some customers this could potentially be a problem. We are contacting you ahead of shipping the product to highlight this trait to give you the opportunity to change your mind on your order before we ship you the product.

We will of course accept all returns and provide a full refund if you are unsatisfied with the product once your receive it in line with our standard terms and conditions.

Thank you for your custom,

The Entertainment Store

A few people ridiculed myself and others when we suggested that distributors were responsible for pricing but that is why Entertainment One are selling their new releases through HMV for £14.99 and Paramount are selling their releases through Entertainment Store for £24.99. Entertainment Store proved it wasn't their decision by offering 2 Guns for £17.99. What I am basically saying is that I'll be amazed if this is anything less than £24.99.

So you're saying HMV sold an Entertainment One steelbook for £15 and ES sold an Entertainment One steelbook for £18 ...and that proves that studios make the prices?!

They sold 2Guns for less than their paramount releases because it was 1 disc, it wasn't WEA, it wasn't under 4k and it wasn't 3d.

Embossing on the back is a real cool feature to set this apart. The only other steel I have with embossed back is MIB Trilogy (Play.com)

Are there any others?

Yes. Entertainment One releases are noticeably cheaper than Paramount releases. StudioCanal releases are noticeably cheaper than Disney releases. How much would HMV be selling this for? How much would HMV be selling Thor: The Dark World for? Definitely not for £14.99 that's for sure. Further proof is the price HMV charged for Kick-Ass 2 and The World's End. It is obvious that retailers have very little leeway when it comes to pricing.

Filth, Zavvi Roger Rabbit (maybe just debossed on the back), ummm

Good shout on Filth. WFRR was debossed only, like Lawless and The Raid (both Play) so there can only be a few embossed backs I guess

I'm in for one of these and it sounds like it's going to look pretty good

Also lawless, i think it has debossed bullet holes.

If it isnt too expensive i will buy this and then it will give me an excuse to buy the first film steelbook

edit - Just realised you said embossed not debossed

Wish the first one had this type of treatment :(

Looks nice so far though, hoping to see some pics of it before making a decision. I also haven't even seen it yet, so may watch it before deciding.

At first I was disappointed with all the quotes on the back, but then I saw the one about paying a hobo to spoon him and remembered how funny that was in the cinema, and now I don't care! :scat:
