Collectors: Can go crazy with multiples, or tons of steels of the same movie etc. Also will seek out or trade for rare ones they missed out on.

Selectors: Most have or want to own only select steelbooks that they see

So which one are you?

Selector(s): That there is trademarked, not to be used without written permission of Ricky Bobby, Inc. :hilarious:

Recently a lot of my purchases have been blind, once artwork is confirmed. I have a quick look on metacritic etc then I go and buy :)

I'm a Selector.

I only buy the Steelbook for movies that I really like *and* the artwork is decent.

I liked the Sam Raimi Spider-man Trilogy, except for the 3rd - it's a mess. But I refuse to touch the Futureshop Steelbooks. They are fugly.

I used to be more of a "Collector" as there were less releases and I cared more about obtaining rare titles than I do today. Back then many Steels sat on my shelves wasted collecting dust as I had no interest in watching them. However with the advent of waves and more titles in which I had no interest (I generally open my Steelbooks when I watch them), I chose to become a selector. With over 340 Steelbooks in my personal collection today, I still have a few where I like the art more than the movie but I probably sold quite a few over the years, even those OOP, but in which I had no interest in owning. Today I have evolved into a 'Selector' that generally only purchases the actual films that interest me or my wife....which happen to come in a Steelbook.

Selector for sure. Had I not sold off about 120 or so steelbooks I would have well over 200 steelbooks right now. Have less then 90 steels now all of which are for movies Im a big fan. Far more happier this way now and actually enjoying the hobby.

Selector - without a shadow of a doubt.

I wouldn't spend money on something that I don't like, and hence I buy only those movies that I like. Besides that, it is not financially feasible to buy every steelbook.

I envy those who can afford to be a collector though.

Selector...just like mentioned before Cloverfield, Paranormal Activity are some exampels of nice steels bur for me these films sucks and therefore I don`t get them.

Selector (with collector features).

I only get the movies I like, no doubt about it. But what I may do that I consider a collector feature is getting more than one edition. Not that I have double dipped all of mine, but it can happen since we have great editions for the same movie.

Sometimes I have to save me from myself and, trust me, it is hard, lol.

Selective now ... used to be obsessed when i first started collecting over a year ago i dread to think how much i blew last year on steelbooks ...

I'm a selective collector. I don't mind double dipping on certain movies but I have stopped buying as many steelbooks as I did in the beginning.
Will most likely get rid of some of them sooner or later as I got a little addicted when I first got into steelbooks. :p

I am probably a selector too. I don't have the funds to be real collector (buy everything that comes out, right?), otherwise I might be. I like steelbooks, but because of the money I must choose what I buy. :-/

another selector here..... only get ones for films that I like or for films I want to see and think I'll like

Selector, only purchase the films that I really like, just would rather buy them in steelbook format because they look so much better, tho I did purchase Batman Begins and Dark Knight from Japan to sell on, which I did, but it was a wise move as it helped me buy many more for myself and whilst we are in a recession, every little helps.

Definitely a selector. There are some damn ugly steelbooks that I would never pay for! I also only collect UK steelies.

Selector without a doubt! My goal is to own every steelbooks of my all time favourite movies. Unfortunately, a lot of them are not available on steelbooks and there's also some movies I own on steelbooks because I like the movie enough without being an all times fav but love its steelbook treatment (The Thing remake, 2012, Conan etc) ;)
