Surely though if you start a sought after item at 99p you pretty much know it will go for above retail, there's a fine line. Maybe it makes people feel better by doing it??

Also why buy a oneclick to sell one or two anyway? For scalping reasons? so they hopefully make a profit or at least so their copy perhaps doesn't cost them anything.

Not always. I've bid and won loads that start at 99p and won it well below cost

I'm thinking of getting the one click blufans guardians when it's up but if they include a 1/4 slip I'd possibly sell because I don't like them and it gets some money back for the money I spent on the whole one click. I wouldn't scalp but it helps bring some money back from it for somthing I don't need

There's a very friendly ninja here who has bought a couple of one clicks and sold me an edition he didn't want. Many others have done that too. That's fine IMO

True but say if you bought some thing like Dr Strange blufans and started it at 99p. You know you are going to get more than retail because it's sought after. Also I have seen loads of things that are high value stuff starting at 99p that have a reserve price on them.

Like I said there is a fine line.

Reserve is different. Then the seller has a price in mind and usually a lot higher therefore scalping

But yeah the 99p thing can go either way. But you won't always get more just because you start at 99p.

Dr strange is different like a few releases you know will get much more than retail anyway so that don't matter if they start at 99p or retail

What happens if someone has to buy a one click just to secure the editions they want..how many of us was forced to go the one click route in the blufans Doctor Strange gb just so we could get either or both lenticular editions? How many people buy one clicks and sell the excess copies cause they only want the quarter slip ?

Sadly some in this forum think even buying one additional copy = Scalping. I missed the Kimchi release and Logan BB Steelbook, and wanted to secure an additional BF Doctor Strange and use that to get them. Apparently this is pure greed.

There you go, scalping thrown in there again.

The ethics of reselling for whatever reason is crazy on this forum, especially when you hear some of the opinions on it from different members.

So I could say, sell my Captain America Nova Choice lenti valued at say £100 mint and sealed present day, now IF I get £100 in an auction is that right or wrong considering it was whatever, say £50 delivered when released? See I didn't buy it on release, it cost me £120 delivered or maybe just abit under when I purchased mine, so do I have a right to get my £120 back or should sell it for less to appease someone cause it may be seen as scalping?

See when someone sells their Doctor Strange via auction anything above the cost price is scalping but if you take a loss its fair game? WTF lol. If you bought your house for 100k and it was valued 3 years later when you decide to sell for 150k does that make you a greedy person? Who honestly would slap away a fistful of dollars for anything they own especially if that fistful of dollars is more than what the person paid for it?

In an auction no one is making any of the bidders bid. Everyone has a figure in their head of how much they are willing to spend on a title. I don't go scouring ebay when I want a release then naming and shaming people when I see prices they're asking for and i'm not willing to pay..I simply keep looking or wait.

How is buying an extra copy to sell or selling an extra copy you got with a one click any less ethical than buying an extra copy for trade purposes? I'm not saying either are bad, we're all trying to a, live and b, pay for this expensive habit we have.

Then there are people who say "true collectors" are missing out cause of scalpers, that annoys me the most. A true collector wouldn't cheap out if they needed a specific steelbook in their collection. IDEALLY we all want to pay face value but there are always people joining the game at various stages who are going to have missed out on premiums from whichever retailer.. I got into Novamedia just before their Avengers exclusive dropped, I had pay up for all the previous releases and they seldom came at face value. In my opinion, a true collector would have his finger on the pulse to get which ever release he wants, I don't buy these members who were buying multiples of the Doctor Strange blufans via the HDN group buy cause they were "picking up copies for friends". What a crock. Who can honestly say they know someone who collects Filmarena,Blufans,Novamedia,Kimchidvd,Mantalab,Mondo X or Hdzeta releases so casually that they aren't even a member of this website or the other website and can't join the group buy themselves?

"Hey mate, can you get in on that thing..whats it called..a group buy is it?..yeah thats it, for the new double lenticular blufans Doctor Strange...I've seen the pics on facebook and have to have it but have no possible clue how to obtain it myself"

Nail on head and it will be the same old bunch of the most kind hearted ethical saints out here who badge this as scalping, and those who do that probably are scalping themselves silent under the hoods under a different moniker but being vocal about scalping in public forums to give a good boy impression. To the anti-scalpers especially in the UK and EU, if you guys are so honest then how about asking the retailer to declare correct value and pay customs duty? It is okay to avoid paying taxes but it is not when others scalp or resell? See guys, you are spending 2000-3000 a year on this and you must do what you can to sustain in this expensive hobby. Doesn't mean you have to be ruthless but at least be pragmatic and smart. Morality is good but it can be for used for other causes like helping those who are really suffering and not those who are collecting 5 grams of metal housed on a plastic shell.

There's a difference between selling something from your collection, and buying something solely to put on ebay/ trading pages at a much higher price as soon as you get the product in your hands. (Even before).

Or the ones that defend buying multiple copies are the real scalpers??

You said it yourself, if an item is sought after then why would someone sell it on for face value for someone else to sell on for a profit? What's the difference in me intending to buy an item to keep today which is sought after and losing my job tomorrow and selling on for a profit because you know, my welfare is a priority to me buying a sought after item and just selling it on for a profit straight away.. the answer is the reason, would you know my reasoning in any event? No. And do you know the reason behind why people on ebay are listing at a higher price right this very moment? No. Just throw the word "scalper" out there and hope it sticks.

Another point I want to make is, Okay, so someone gets or has a spare copy of a sought after release, they want to trade it for another rare steel with a fellow member.. thats okay in most circles but someone selling the steel for the same value of the item they want then buying it with the money gained isn't okay? What is the difference there? Me buying something with a voucher is no different with me buying something with cash, isn't the steel being sold a means to an ends in any case?

It's normally the ones who miss out due to most of the time, lets face it, laziness who come around slinging mud. No one here has to defend anything nor justify themselves to you, you cannot even spell Asgard correct mate, you are the least of my worries. How many times have you seen me run around here crying about "scalpers" or missing a release? Never because I do my due diligence and make sure i'm around to get the things I want, and if I do ever miss out then i'll spend what I need to spend to get what I want if i'm comfortable with it.

Nail and head.

If you sell a copy that has appreciated in value over time then that's good luck.

If you are selling a dozen copies at extortionate prices even before release date then that is scalping.

SIMPLES

What's my spelling of Asguard got to do with anything?

How many times are you the one defending scalpers? Maybe because you like to do it yourself?

Haha accuse people of slinging mud, whilst slinging mud!!!!

At what point did I say or imply anybody had to justify anything to me? I'm simply weighing in on a discussion.

End of day if you buy something to immediately sell at an extortionate price, it's called scalping. You can say all the excuses under the sun, result is the same.

When I have a spare copy due either ordering an extra by error as in server issues or ordering a release from different sources and forget to cancel one of the orders I sell that spare copy at retail price + shipping not once have I sold any of my spares for profit.
I just made sure I got my money back that I originally paid and some I even gave away for free to friends.

Do tell me as i'm curious, how many times have I defended scalpers?

I haven't defended scalpers at all here today at the very least, I've been questioning the many circumstances as which the term scalper has been slapped on people. You clearly don't know what you're talking about. You've twice now tried to imply i'm a scalper by virtue of defending scalpers, neither point is factual. Maybe its not your ability to spell that needs to be questioned but simply your ability to read.

.

You are implying I am a scalper because you interpret what i'm saying as defending scalping. Here I have shown you doing this three times, show me what I said that's defending scalpers by your definition of it
