Yeah confirmed watched the scene twice and in slow mo, there's no blade. Although I'm 99% sure the version I saw in the cinema did include the blade :(

Thanks for checking.

What with The Hunger Games Steel being uncut recently, I really thought this would be too. I understand they're distributed by different companies but both movies have a similar target audience, with Avengers appealing to a much wider age range, which makes the cut/edit even more baffling.

Both films have the same target audience but lionsgate and Disney have wildly different options on what to cut and leave in. Is rare that a company will make cuts after a film has been released. However Disney have made only a slight alteration ( removing the blade coming out of the agents chest ). But lionsgate normally would release a film with extended scenes when it's released on bluray.

This is odd as the release in the cinema I saw definitely had the blade. Is the us and Canadian version cut or uncut?

The US release isn't as far as I've heard, the Target version definitely isn't from internet reports, neither is the Italian.

I have no idea about the Canadian.

Why would they censor the UK release but not the Italian?

Surely it would have been given a general European release across all countries?

After all it was Disney's decision to censor it and not the respectful countries ratings boards?? Makes no sense to censor for some countries and not others??

The Spanish & German versions are also censored, the question is why is the Italian not?

The French are a completely different thing, they do what they want.

Differing opinions indeed. The edit is slight, but completely unnecessary..

For shame Disney, for shame.

But it's DISNEY themselves who has altered the scene in question for the home video release. Not the BBFC or any ratings boards.

I actually saw the uncut version in the theatre.

Is it confrimed that the Italian version is uncut or just speculation?

If Disney have done the alterations, wouldn't it apply to all versions?

They are unlikely to go, ah, can't be bothered with the French and Italians. :D

I know. Exactly, that's my point. Doesn't make sense to censor for some countries and not others?

It's a strange one. I Would be interested to know exactly which releases are the uncensored ones :dunno:

That's the question why?, in the UK it would have been been passed by the BBFC as a 12 anyway.

As for the Italian version search here and elsewhere, I can't link at the moment as I'm on my phone.

it sucks that it is edited , i cancelled the german steelbook on amazon because i thought the UK version was going to be uncut but now this , i paid about 20 euro for this crap instead of 25 euro on amazon which comes with 3d disc and bonus disc

can i return this to hmv? and if yes i suppose the shipping cost is on me ?

No it was the BBFC, right? I'm just venting my frustration is all.

Don't look to far into it.

The BBFC has not cut this movie, ****ing Disney has cut this movie, **** them.

Here is proof that the BBFC passed the unedited version. Disney are just so ****ing lazy that gave the whole of Europe the edited version.

The injuries sustained by the aliens are very unreal, with small blue splashes representing 'blood' when they are blasted by weapons. A slightly stronger moment occurs when a man is stabbed through the back by the chief villain's spear. The detail of the impact is not shown, only the tip of the spear protruding from the man's chest with a small amount of blood on it. The image is not dwelt upon and serves an important narrative purpose. The BBFC's Guidelines at '12A'/'12' state 'Moderate violence is allowed but should not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood, but occasional gory moments may be permitted if justified by the context'.
