So unless this comes out in the US, I'll most likely be ordering this version. My question is, what is HMV's packing like these days? Have they updated it to compete with Amazon and Play?

Also, what do they do with an order that contains multiple pre-orders that come out a month or two apart? I'd like to also order Jaws, ET, and Total Recall along with Avengers. Will they wait to ship them all with the one released last or will they parse them out as they are released like Amazon does?

Thanks!
As far as I'm aware HMV still package their steelbooks in the small brown cardboard boxes. It's a strong cardboard but there's room for the steelbook to rattle around. They really should add some bubble wrap. Having said that I've yet to receive a damaged steelbook from them.

Last I heard, HMV has not upgraded their packaging.

It has always been my experience with HMV, no matter how many items are on your order, they will each be shipped out separately in their own cardboard box, at the time of their release.

In terms of cost, it's much cheaper to order from a place like amazon.co.uk that will combine shipping and remove the taxes from the items in your order.

So your saying that if I ordered 3 of these from them..they will send them in 3 different boxes...AND charge me shipping on each one separately...that cant be thats just silly?

Correct. 4.50 GBP each. For USA / Canada members (UK members get free shipping) ;)

That's really dumb and makes absolutely no sense. I mean is better for everyone if you put what you can in the same box. they're obviously profiting off of the shipping then.

Oh well what can you do.

The reason they do it is/was to avoid customs charges for UK customers as they ship from the Channel Islands. As most of their customers are from the UK it makes perfect sense. It was a win win situation. Anyway, my point is that you should just be glad that HMV ship to the USA and £4.50 is hardly a huge sum in any case.

That does make sense. I'm not really complaining that's why I said oh well what can you do. 20 quid for this is a fine price anyway. About the same or a little less then it would go for here

Has anyone order from over sea before ? And how does it work with customs? especially from this place ?

I have never been charged for an HMV order before by customs. I think because most of the times these items are below $30 so they just let it go. I think the Canadian limit is around there for when you get taxed (not 100% sure). What I also do is I always state the item is a gift, with no gift-wrap option, so I don't get charged for that when I order through Amazon or HMV (don't remember for sure if this option is available at HMV). I don't know if it helps at all but I just do it anyway.

Does anyone know whether this steel is limited to 4,000? Or is it much larger?

I don't think anyone knows this at the moment and if someone does ;) I don't think they are sharing for the time being.

But if I was a betting man I would bet this one is much more then 4K printed copies. Easily a double run around 8K or close to it =/- 2K.

By my guess this will be distributed at the same level Scarface was worldwide. Which means lots of copies to go around but it will sell out due to the popularity of the move despite large quantities being made.
