Any reason not to use a mild solvent like Sticky stuff remover to get rid of glue residue?
works for me. i have always had real success with a touch of lighter fluid and a kitchen towel with an immediate gentle rub. each to their own - if your way works for you, it works - but this method has always worked for me, without any damage to or affect on the steel. that said, i've not had any of this yellow glue to try it on yet.

Well you weren't wrong. That glue on the top front was absolutely abominable. Even knowing ahead of time it's some of the worst I've ever seen, it may as well be Gorilla Glue.
What brain dead c*cknocker thinks thats going to be practical and good use on delicate artwork?

Got it all off and no residue but it has taken a very tiny splodge off the matte shade finish on each side. It's not even the paint that's come off, rather the miniscule thin varnish. Thankfully it can only be seen at a particular angle due to the shade being almost identical and even then it's barely noticeable.

If it annoys the crap out of me in the next 48 hours, I might just hurl it against a wall and say it was damaged in transit.
What a bunch of bellenders.

For those who have received their copies: How well is the print aligned with the debossing (or vice versa)? Not so happy with my SteelBook now that I have it in hand. I compared it to the one presented in the video in post #24 and found that one has the same alignment issue.

Front on mine looks bang on. The rose on the rear is not, though. It's overprinted to the right a fair bit.

Jesus wept, that bloody glue! Managed to get it all off without taking any matte finish off, but it's left a bit of smeared residue on the front. Not as bad as wicked, but it's still tactile to touch.

I used nail varnish after that. It gets rid of the residue but can potentially take off the matte varnish. It did with me a little.
It sucks man.

Rubbing alcohol - does same job but won't remove any finish

Problem is though. If you've already messed around trying to get off the residue and spread it, likelihood is that the varnish has already been removed under the residue without noticing it. That's what happened to me.
I thought I had a foolproof method.
I was a fool.

I always use a hairdryer on the glue dot by heating the paper above it then direct to the side of the dot if needed.
Then I use Sticky Stuff Remover directly on the area after removing the paper, these front dots needed a lot more heat than normal to soften.

My copies print alignment with the debosing is slightly low on the front and very slightly to the left on the back.

I used a hairdryer. Worked a treat for no paint off, but still feels sticky and tactile after.

A mild solution like Sticky stuff remover doesn't damage the finish and removes glue like it's barely a fingerprint, you're all insane for jumping through a million hoops with hair dryers and nail varnish...

Yes this can happen if some of the glue lump remains on the paint.
If this occurs I use the sticky remover let it work for a minute then carefully use a multi-surface wipe and then a damp microfiber cloth and repeat until clean but never rub too hard.
