It does sound bad the first part, but if you asked them to mark it down at $16 then that's the risk you take for the fiscal fraud you mentioned.

When they deem it a illegal copy or a fake or whatever, how do you prove otherwise.. Show them the website and forums? That could be a problem cause you risk them seeing the actual price for this set

I don't think you ask HDZeta to mark down do you? Don't they do it automatically?
They do in the GB. I didn't ask to have my package marked down but it was marked down.

Well I guess he already provided the original price with proof of payment, that´s why they concluded it is a fiscal fraud. But nobody have to ask HDzeta about the price tag, they do it automatically at 16 usd

@wouter

Hopefully you get some kind of authentication and say that you had nothing to do with marking down the package and pay whatever import fees apply.

I guess some kind of proof of authenticity must be provided by HDzeta otherwise Im not sure If the website proof will be enough for those stupids at customs, they could easily say the website is fake :punch:

I'm sure it doesn't help that it's coming from China.

Never asked hdzeta to mark the package with $16, they do it automatically I think.
I provided them with all the info I have (without giving them extra things to investigate of course). They don’t have to prove it’s counterfeit, I’ve to prove it’s an original product)

I’m in a big discussion with Belgian customs (and the Belgian Federal Finance Public Service) about the boxset…

My package (direct order from the HDZeta website) is held at Belgian customs. This time not for adding taxes, but for counterfeit. They will destroy the content of the package because they say after opening the package that it is an illegal imitation. I had to object to the destruction, but with doing that, now I can be held responsable for forgery if the “expert” from customs comes to that conclusion. If so, the import of counterfeit will be transferred to the Belgian law court and I face a conviction and have to pay for all the costs + penalty. Because HDZeta marked the package with$16, they also want to charge me with fiscal fraud…

I work for a financial institute at management level, so when it comes to an outcome and I’ll be convicted, I’ll lose my job (corporate policy). Let’s say the fun for collecting steelbooks is gone for the moment…
Sounds familiar. I had the same experience with the German customs. I also objected and their expert/lawyer started the investigation.
What they do is contact the Studio/distributor and verify it’s legitimacy. Customs had to open the package to get the barcodes. Since MantaLab (in my case) had the license it was no problem.
The German customs had to pay for all the costs and I could collect the package.

You can’t be held responsible for HDZeta marking the package with the wrong value. That won’t held up in court. They simply could forget a zero on the end.
Your paypal receipt is saying something different.

Don’t be afraid. I found it actually fun to do the whole process, starting from the moment I got that letter saying it’s a counterfeit.

I'm just putting the pieces together now. Because it showed up at customs with a declaration of $16 they figure it's counterfeit.

Right, wasn't aware he got it in the group buy. You can request a price when ordering direct though I believe

WTF is with all these tight custom regulations for EU counties??

The UK is so relaxed. I really hope @wouter you get this sorted. It seems people have way too much time on their hands.

You will never be convicted for fraud Wouter. You are the buyer, it’s not your fault it’s marked as $16. It would be against the retailer and good luck trying to prosecute the retailer from China. Even if you did request the mark down on customs how are they going to prove it’s you anyway?

What a load of nonsense.

I agree I just hope they don't destroy his set

This is the obvious risk you all take in asking for lower marked value to avoid customs. I know this has happened before with @Aniv and customs here in the US. Took like a month to work out and official papers from the retailer and WB I think. Good luck!

Just to be clear, he didn't ask to have the package marked down. HDZeta does it on their own.

Out of curiosity, if your package for example in this case one of these batman boxsets go missing in the post or gets seriously damaged then what do HDZeta do?

Claiming the parcel is only $16 would mean they couldn't claim the loss back through the postage insurance so would they provide a replacement or a refund?
