Well im thinking Warner mass produced these Batman steelbooks since they are being released in North America and Europe all with the same cover art. So I doubt they would specifically make steels with inside art for a particular country. Most likely to be the same steels as the US w/ no inside art.

Does the U.S. not have a habit of rushing out these kind of Steelbooks though? They copied a lot of previous Canadian releases that DID have inside artwork only to not included it on the U.S. versions.

Why have inside art on the Watchmen but not the rest? There's no consistencey. I don't usually go for U.S. Steelbooks (give or take one or two) purely for these reasons.

I am guessing these releases are barebones because the market is relatively new for Steelbooks in the USA. The studios hold the cards as to how much they want to pay. And if they sell, at least they have confirmation that there is a market in the US for Steels at all, without paying a premium for the first couple sets. Great way for new fans of Steels to purchase some, as some of the other titles out for a few years are very expensive, but also a reason to skip some of these, if you feel strongly about inner art, and or/own others previously released with similar covers, etc....

Isn't it time we stopped making excuses for poor Steelbook releases? Is it a case of testing the market or is it simply making as much cash as possible from as little investment as possible? Shame on Warner!

Yah lots of U.S. steels were blank while their international counterparts had artwork. Germany is pretty bad too though.

I actually think that the U.K. steels will have interior art. It would surprise me more if they didn't than if they did.

Snoo-as the company has a right to release it as they wish, the customer always has a right to refuse the product. Just don't buy them, the end:)

I know but ultimately these will probably prove popular with potential new collectors meaning that Warner will continue to release sub-par Steelbooks. I guess it's a tough situation, on the one hand you want to support studios in the US, but you don't want to encourage the kind of releases they are doing at the moment. I think it would be better if the USA just got new releases (and lots of them of course). That way they can charge a premium but also provide a premium product.

Anyway, on topic, it's a little annoying that this doesn't have inside artwork. I really hope the UK version does as it's not something we really want to start becoming more commonplace.

Couldn't agree more, Snoo, especially with very cool releases like 'Zero Dark Thirty' (imo). We shall see...for now the flood gates have opened in the US at long last. I'll stay tuned as a Steelbook collector, and hope more and more, that additional Steels are released with 'extra' care and premium finishes, inside art! :scat:
