I'd be astonished if you didn't like it. The film is epic in every sense. When they say they don't make them like that any more, they really don't!

I'm glad this doesn't have a reverse spine.

As for the movie, it's one of the old-school epics, along with The 10 Commandments and Spartacus. The budget was enormous (for that time period) and the production scale aimed for the stars. It has a different pacing from more recent movies and with the long running time, viewers have to exhibit some patience when watching. Definitely worth a watch if you appreciate older movies.

Is this confirmed or just your wish? I too expect the same but considering Warner's track record, my expectations are low. Also it is not clear if this will contain all 3 discs.

I may consider this, still a movie that I enjoy and another one of those great classics but I got the UK release at a good price the other week, which has one of the movie posters and is a nice release, the UK one was going for a lot more too previously.

I already have the lavish US Collector's Edition, as well as the UK Steelbook with the original poster art. However, I have no problem with triple dipping for this greatest of the great epic movies, and have already placed my order with Amazon (France). I just hope that they don't alter the artwork.

The remake, due this Summer, has a lot to live up to. I fear that it will prove to be little more than a pale imitation of this much revered classic of the silver screen.

I cannot watch this film without remebering nearly 100 horses died during the production. so I won't watch it.

The only thing i have been able to pick up regarding the horses is this:
Although only about 36 horses would ever be seen on screen during the race, 82 animals (to cover for accidents and rest periods) were brought in from Yugoslavia.

But there is no mention of deaths of horses. There is a comment regarding the 1925 version of Ben Hur which had horses that were slaughtered but not this version of the movie.
