Minneapolis - Best Buy is providing e-gift cards to customers whose Black Friday orders were canceled just days before Christmas.

The retailer said that "overwhelming demand for hot product offerings" on BestBuy.com from Black Friday through the following week led to inventory outages and last-minute order cancelations. The out-of-stocks affected less than 1 percent of online orders placed during the period, the company said, and were most pronounced for laptops, PlayStation3 consoles and certain camera models, based on customer complaints in online forums.

The cancellations otherwise mar Best Buy's early-season promise of a "hassle-free holiday," but are not expected to have any material impact on the company's financial performance for the quarter.

That's complete BS. The fact that they started cancelling orders because of no stock, but yet they still sold the same items online at the regular price is simply unacceptable IMO. Like the PS3 bundles that many got their order cancelled, online it was available and in stock all the way through the last few days before Christmas. They just refused to give up their stock at discounted prices.

I got a $5 one the other day from my Vanquish order being cancelled. I used itthe other day when they had the LA Noire Complete edition on sale for $19.99.

got a $11 cert in email ... but I had 2 $11 items ... only got one cert. tho both cancelled.

BB cancelled my Ben Hur orders and didn't give me any coupons to date. It is what it is but disappointing nonetheless, especially because I wanted the set for the BF price.

yah I didnt get a cert for that ...well I did that earlier one for $10, not 11.

Got 11 for citi kane digibook.
