I apologise if something like this had already been posted, if so ,mods, feel free to delete my thread :D

But what I was wondering is, what do you guys consider to be the best version of a steelbook where there have been numerous releases? i.e. Cowboys & Aliens, for me the UK versions beats the crap out of the Target and FS versions. I love the embossed finish, and IMO it is one of the nicest looking steelbook's available.

I was thinking we could make this a sort of "game" where the person replying next will post their answer for the SB the person above them suggested, once 5 people have given their opinion on a certain SB, the 6th person then suggests a new SB and this continues until we have decent figures to work with. Kind of like the SB popularity game, but I want to gauge HDN members opinions on which country releases the best SB's. Does this make sense? If so, please give me your answers for Cowboys & Aliens.

UK HMV one kicked some serious a$$ and yes I also own the FS one but Embossed/Debossed with clean front cover, inner & back art is what I call a premium collectible steelbook, yes Asia & Germany released identical one but the German one had unnecessary & unrelated accessories plus it was expensive, besides the UK one was released FIRST out of the three so UK HMV one wins hands down ;)

Germany also had the stand alone SB release at MEDIA MARKT, so the same as the UK HMV exclusive ;-)

Also think the UK/GER/Asia realease of C&A was better than the TARGET/FS version :scat:

I agree that the UK release of C&A was easily the best!

How about this one... which Drive steelbook do you all prefer? The French or the UK version?

For me it has to be the HMV exclusive (UK). I felt the artwork complimented the film better than the French one did, and that neon pink against the black just looks awesome. :D

Hands down HMV one, no competition there :scat:

Well I have to agree the HMV release was awesome. Just like you said the pink on the black background looks sweeeeeet.

And as far as Cowboys and Aliens, I have the U.S. version the HMV, and both German versions and my favorite is the Special Edition Tin and I know it's not fair because of the goodies but it's just awesome.

Now which Sucker Punch is the best???
I say the SDCC it's so sexxxxxxy:drool:

I would have to disagree German 1st release is my fav
sucker punch usa is one of my all times worst steelbooks no G1

lol, size isn't everything, quality matters :D

Anyways, a pix

They all have such beautiful artwork but there's something about the CC one which puts it top of the list for me , and I too would always normally go for G2 casing over G1!

Did someone say Sucker Punch? :)

Nice picture Hub. First off, I love all SP steelbooks but like Hub said, quality matters and the SDCC SP steelbook though G1 is IMO, a perfect steelbook package. And it is one of a kind in its design and package. There isn't another identical release from another country or a reprint/re-release. Perhaps that is why it is commanding the price it does on ebay.

I am convinced when seen and held in its "naked" form, most skeptics will change their mind about it. :)

The steelbook currently garnering all my attention is the JP release of Chronicles of Narnia - Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Not quite convinced it has toppled SP on my list yet but its artwork is quite impressive.

I would have said the NL version was the best. IT released one without the printed ratings logo and is with Artcards.

Bottom right

The steelbook currently garnering all my attention is the JP worldwide exclusive release of Chronicles of Narnia - Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

FYI, there is a TH release of the same SB.

Ah, learn something new everyday. I had the impression the Thai edition was a star metalcase like the Despicable Me case. I will amend my claim then. Thanks Hub!

Love the artwork of sucker punch sdcc and of the IB re release from CA. Love the rifle engraving and overall artwork. But of course the dog tag version is the expensive one

I'm starting to not be keen on the flimsy embossing that many new steels get. ie. Cowboys and Aliens .... you can pop in out etc. Where as that new TDK/BB FR didnt have that nor did any old ones.
