can't believe I missed the group buy opening until now. 270th poster - most people asking for 2, think I'm going to miss out :(
I think you may be okay, I think this is a higher print run of 4000, I might be wrong though, so Karel might get more allocated for the GB

I think in the Kingsman GB he had a higher amount as opposed to what he is usually allocated.

Fingers crossed for you mate.

I'm in the early 200 myself...

Do we know in time if we're definitely in and have a copy secured before the 25th? (thought that was the pre-order date on FA site)

If not, I'm not sure what to do! :ohno:

Number for group buy says : XX9
So i guess it could go from 009 to 999
I wouldnt worry in the slightest the fact he hasn't put a definite number i would presume they are giving him leeway all the way up to the highest number if need be
Critical acclaimed film ,some people you talk to loved it ...others turned it off.
it won a oscar but its not a well known film as such in talking to people at work out and about mentioning it asking if seen it.
bear in mind also Film Area is a new name on the block and outside of these kind of forums and home country not known about to general steelbook buying public who maybe check zavvi HMV etc
Famous last words
but if the print run is 4000.overall..... will it sell out
personally think Its a huge amount for this film
obviously great as everyone who wants one will be able to grab one from here or other group buys or website

karel gets asked by film arena how many he needs by an early date, he also gets told by them when they need the money to be paid hence why 9 times out of 10 people are paying alot earlier as film arena want the money for them, i know this because have been told so.
Its a privileged arrangement that karel has with film arena, one for which i am grateful for as alot of members here get serviced at cost from karel.

personally i think paying earlier is a good thing as is paid and done you just have to wait for it to turn up and the group buy host isn't going to get stung from someone who drops out and changes there mind, which is how it should be would save the group buy hosts alot of aggrovation in the long run!

personally i don't see what all the general upset is (not you blu-steel) we all know the rules and how it works its not uncommon knowledge as @cooey has said people would not be moaning if was blu-fans!
there are always some people that are not always happy but to those i would say don't get on the group buy.
you will just have to buy on the secondry market or order direct from film arena with alot more highly inflated prices regards postage which film arena are milking tbh, that becomes the seed you must decide if you wish to swallow after the full beauty shot becomes available.

i suspect we don't see the full beauty shot straight away as the bits and bobs have to all be made still and this is why we don't see it until later as its does not exist as my guess.

regards the last sentence maybe @Collector03601 could confirm is the case please?

so everyone has there answer and then can get the answers in there head once and for all, so we don't keep going from thread to thread with all the same questions of group buys should be this group buys should be that!

it helps no one really, group buys are done the way they and thats how it is end of story so lets all just move on please.

basil

thanks collector and karel for both you hard work

why do they need the money earlier? all film arena are doing is setting aside 299 copies or whatever the number is. film arena was going to have to pay the entre amount by themselves for all the copies which they are going to buy no matter what so why do they need our group buy money..........just seems like an excuse for them to get some extra money early............

237th here, hopefully we got in! :)

This might help some people determine whether they got their requests in for the Group Buy in time: post #231 in the Birdman GB thread represents copy #299. So if this GB is 299 copies (like Dredd, for instance), anyone whose post number is higher than 231 unfortunately missed out.

How do you known that?
I'm post #176 anyway so if what your saying is true then I should be safe but where does it say how many were located to the GB?

Sorry, I was thinking of the GB limit on Dredd when I said that the limit on Birdman was 299--I just edited my original post to correct that. But I've seen several people say that 299 is a common limit on FA Group Buys, so there's a good chance that's the limit on Birdman.

And you should definitely be safe. FA is producing at least 2000 of these, so I'm sure the GB won't be for less than 299. I'm crossing my fingers, though--I'm post #217, copy #283!

I suspect that this GB is not going to be limited to 299 copies but more will be available. FAC GBs that are limited to 299 usually represent a lower print run around the 750 mark like (Ex_Machina, Dredd (possbily), Ghost Rider etc). I have a feeling that this is going to be 1k to 2k print run. I have a collectibale still number of 766 and I am able to pre-order it now directly from FilmArena.

Ah, thanks for that info @rebelrocks. I didn't realize 299 was generally for the lower print runs. I thought Dredd was anticipated to be a higher print run because the Steelbook artwork is exclusive to FA (or so I thought), and I've read that World Exclusive Art means a high print run (3000 to 4000), so when I saw that the Dredd GB was limited to 299, I figured that the Birdman GB limit would be about the same (because FA is producing either 2000 or 3000 of those).

If you read earlier posts from the start of thread
From people involved in the GB or friends of the GB host ,
also FA announced over social media
Print run is confirmed 4000
Whether that be one two or three different kind of slips
John wick was angel / devil 4000 run
That one opened May 18th and is still open
So you don't need to be pulling your hair out over this

Could you point out where in this thread someone said 4000? I've read through the entire thread over the last few days, and I've seen Karel's original info quoted many times over ("2k + 1k") and people speculating whether that means two editions or what, but I must have missed where someone said it was definitively 4000. And I can't find any reference to a print run number on FA's Facebook page.

"Finally, our study confirmed the exclusivity of the design by the end of January 2016, so it will be the first with this design, and no one else to produce our Steelbooku can not add. Surely you also wonder how many units will be available and jeslti gets to you. Know therefore that these lame movie Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) will be produced 4,000 pieces. We'd also adorned SteelBook other value-added, but more on that in another article next time ... :)"

those are the rules that film arena impose on karel if he wants to get them, be it right or wrong. If you feel that strongly about it being wrong i would simply suggest just buying direct from film arena when they go on pre-order they ship worldwide but there shipping charges are not cheap, hence why everyone buys on the group buy but each to there own i say.
