^ Spot gloss on the front too according to Zavvi's site
"Matt Varnish, Creative White Base with Spot Gloss UV on front Helicopter and Spot Gloss UV on back Soldier & x 3 Helicopters, Deboss title"
or, if you prefer
"Finition mate avec spot-gloss sur l'hélicoptère du recto et sur le soldat et les 3 hélicoptères du verso. Titre débossé"

Whatever it is it's a stunner with artwork carrying across both the inside and outside and is far superior ro the Play.com release (IMO).
- Better colouring
- Better artwork throughout
- Better positioning of the title and de-bossed to boot
- Less print on the cover
- Correct positioning of the "Blu-ray" logo on the spine away from the studio logo
etc.

EDIT 17/2:
Arrived safely and more than acceptable.
Daytime scene perfectly complements the night vision scene of the original steelbook and together with the wraparound artwork and "gritty" finish this is one serious steelbook.

Not much to add to the pre-order description except to mention . . .
- The nice minor touch of continuity . . . having the de-bossed title picked out in the same shade of yellow throughout - on the spine and on the large print on the front and underside of the j-card.

- The pronounced shine on the lower half gold section giving the feeling that the chopper is hovering over the fiery pit of Hell (or maybe it's just dawn breaking lol).

- Matte finish, yes, and with a thin layer of gloss on the rotor blades and rotor mast on the front of the steelbook (and elsewhere on the back) and by thin I mean thin it does still looks the business.

Can't help wondering however if the type of finish used on say the recent APOCALYPSE NOW steelbook would have generated more interest in this one.
7.5/10

I'm with Flloydo. Imagery on the front isn't as crisp and striking as in the pictures and I'm quite disappointed with it. Had some nice surprises lately with Fury Road and the re-release of Django but this is a bit of a let down for me, sadly.
