With being older I noticed the racist scene, where they have white fighters breaking planks of wood and a black fighter climbing a tree and breaking nuts like a monkey.

I agree with this, and lots of other similar films. I've watched plenty of 80/90s flicks like this over the last year I remember loving as a teen, and so many of them seem lame to me now.

I only just watched it for the first time a couple years ago and thought it was great, cheesy fun.

I mean it just isn't a movie you are supposed to take seriously. And yeah most of the acting is terrible, especially in the flashback. But who cares. It is really entertaining and JCVD is brilliant in it as usual. He has some hugely entertaining early movies. Just like Steven Seagal. His movies up until about 2000 or so are really good. At least from a purely entertainment pov. Bloodsport is ******* brilliant.

Segal is a fat dad cosplaying as someone he saw on tv, who was reenacting kung-fu moves. In the 90s he was just a slightly less fat dad. Not even comparable to JCVD, an actual athlete.
