Can i ask, has anyone had the same problem as i'm having with this, i ordered the Steelbook on impulse as i wasn't planning on getting it, ordered on the 24th, later that day got an e-mail saying the discs were faulty, being replaced etc. So when i finally got my replacement disc that is all it was, a disc in the sleeve, so nowi am left with no steelbook, just a disc!!! I am guessing i must have ordered one of the last remaining few in stock as not long after i ordered it was no longer available, so i am thinking they never sent out my original steelbook, and now i'm stuck with a disc in a sleeve!!!

Really frustrating getting any answers from HMV, i have rang twice and e-mailed, owning this steelbook is not a major issue for me, as i say it was a last minute buy, but i wantmy money back to put towards maybe another steelbook elsewhere.

Am i alone in that this has only happened to me!!!

Well the replacement disc took a fraction of the time in shipping compared to the actual steelbook. Sending a "cd" without any protection in a very thin jiffy bag is risky to say the least. But it seems it survived... so I am happy =)

People are having a lot of trouble with this release. I have heard of others who have the same issue as you, they have the replacement disc but no Steelbook. I would keep trying to contact HMV to get it resolved.

I had the exact same problem (well, the missus did)

You need to get in contact with HMV and tell them you haven't had the steelbook only the replacement discs. We were told that it was no OOS and to check local stores

Emailed them last week. Got this reply today:

Dear Mr ******,

Thank you for your email.

We're so sorry but we're unable to replace any orders for the steelbook, as we can't find copies anywhere. It's sold out and we're not aware of any plans to re-release.

You might be able to get hold of a second-hand copy, but sadly not through us. If anything changes, we'll be in touch. We really hope you're not too disappointed. We've got one of the biggest databases in the world, so it's unusual for us not to come up with the goods.

THerefore we had to process the refund, we can only apologise for the inconvenience caused by this.

If you require any further information either reply to this email, or give us a ring instead on 0845 603 8576. We're open Monday to Friday, from 9am - 6pm.

Thanks again for shopping with us.

Kind regards,

Online Customer Service Team

Still waiting for my replacement disc though.

Still waiting for my replacement disc though.

Just after posting on here, i got exactly the same e-mail as that, so i now have the disc, with no case, steelbook or otherwise!!! They have give me a full refund so i am fairly happy with the outcome, as i said i wasn't overly keen on getting this one anyway, so i will watch the film as i have still not seen it, then probably sell the disc on it's own on Ebay, i would think i will be able to buy 2 Play Steelbooks for the money i get back from Cabin In The Woods. :movie:

Had to laugh at the irony of the phrase "thankyou for shopping with us" given the fact you didn't actually get what you paid for? Bloody HMV, pathetic! Still. Least you'll get your money back, they should let you keep the disk as a gesture of goodwill

I got my replacement disc today. Got the sealed steelbook about a week ago. Seems I've gotten very lucky with this release. Happy to have a sealed copy of this. :)

I have a friend who's a manager and to be honest, he didn't seem to know a whole lot about it and couldn't say if they were coming back in or not.

In the end he secured me a copy from a store in Oxford UK and I'm waiting for it to arrive here now to pick it up. Doesn't look too good.

Some HMV exclusive Steelbooks never see the light of day over here unfortunately. I keep getting told there is no demand for them here and so they won't order in the more expensive Steelbooks only the platic Amaray's because they are afraid they won't be able to shift them. Ridiculous!

Thanks for the info! Yeah it doesn't look good for Irish collectors. Ah well, I've nearly hit thirty posts so hopefully I can pick one up on the trade section. Once again thanks for the info.

Gotta love the automated email responses

I'm amazed by the amount of replies to this thread - goes to show what happens when a cockup occurs in production which results it being a 'must have' got collectors now :D whereas before the majority wouldn't have touched it.

Yeah I picked up the only copy left in one of my local stores yesterday, didn't actually check it till I got home but it was mint as far as I could see without opening it and in a poly bag so has been opened yet they still gave me a replacement disc (which I had to remind the girl that served me to pick up) so may have two of the new disk? Dunno if I wanna "re"open it tho? Thing was they only had one other disk behind the counter and all the amarays seemed to be still factory sealed? Don't know why they had to open the steels in the first place if the replacement disks are being given out seperately?
