Just wanted to share that with you.

Trying to buy my wife her christmas gift and I've noticed something well, funny.

I want to get her a new winter coat, and I know that she likes Parkas. I thought that I'd get her one, from my favorite brand: The North Face.

Googled it, and arrived on the US website.

Here's the price of the Parka in the US:

And here's the price for the exact same article in Canada:

I think it's just unfair :(

We got screwed over all the time in here, even on amazon for example. Most of the time, the same article on amazon.ca is 30% or more the price of the US one.

And yeah yeah, we do get nice steelbooks in here, but we get beaten up all day long in here.

What do you think my fellow Canadians?

I figure it has to do with transportation and fuel costs .... atleast in regards to stuff at stores.

I feel your pain brother.... I was pricing a Jackie Chan 4 Film Blu-ray at amazon.com and amazon.ca and there was a $10 price difference, its getting rediculous.

Yeah well... I'm thinking of ordering it from eBay. There's a seller there charging the same price as the US North Face website. Only difference is $35 shipping (Express, I want to get it before Christmas) and well, a strong possibility to pay customs! But it'd still be cheaper than $400 + taxes in here (close to $460).

rare times.... how does one explain a vehicle made and assembled by Ford Motor company in Oshawa, Canada that is then transported TO the United States and sold for $27k base price and sold in Canada for $35K base price....

this is one of a thousand examples.... Canadian's always get ripped off. I used to understand somewhat when the Canadian dollar was at 70 cents, lol, but we have been at pretty much parity for a long time now. I can still fathom a bit of a price increase since we are such a smaller market and the rules of economics apply, but, they certainly don't cover for the HUGE differences in prices of just about anything in the consumer market.

I can even understand an overseas country having the excuse that transportation, fuel, logistics, etc. but were right here!

I am so very glad for the global market and online shopping... So much money saved by buying State side or elsewhere. I tried to stick to the whole support your local economy and stores but there comes a point where you just feel like your getting mugged, lol, so online it is for just about anything I can! Its also convenient that I live 15 minutes away from the US border, lol.

On the other hand, Canada has Future Shop where you can walk into one of the stores on any given day and find steelbooks like Book of Eli marked down to CAD$14.99 when it is going for over $60 on ebay. Just saying, it is a wash in the big picture.:D

Hey Biscuit-yes, it certainly does stink. I think some of it may also have to do with certain laws that force Canada companies to only use Canadian distributors for certain goods.I know for a fact it is that way with some types of media as well. In turn, the distributors set the pricing putting the retailer at their mercy. There may be some other shops in the US that will ship to you. Or let me know anytime, and I am happy to buy something for you, and reship, if it helps:)
