They are a problem. I'm fed up of seeing titles getting re-released, why not concentrate on new titles which may possibly sell just as well as any re-release? It's just greedy and ruining collecting.

I guess you missed the Zavvi Iron Man 3 exclusive then? I've got no problem with them doing both. If it's ruining collecting, best not collect.

Business in 'being greedy' shocker.

i agree.

re-releases have no real impact on the collectors and the originals are what everyone really wants. Im glad that now must of the people who havent got this & Thor can now afford one at a reason price.

The even better news is that its different artwork so people who already own the original steels have no real reason to be P'ed as these will be completely new artwork.

I have no problem with businesses making money, but there are other ways to do it. There are loads of great titles a lot of collectors have been begging for, for years that are yet to see a Steelbook release, instead we see titles that whilst popular already have amazing Steelbooks. It's great news for those who haven't been collecting long, but for those who've been collecting for years, it's annoying.

By the way, this has nothing to do with money. I paid retail for this and Thor and I don't own any spare copies. It is to do with non-monetary value. I enjoy the thought of owning something valuable or exclusive, that is what is being destroyed here.

Well, well, well, I'd given up any hope of adding a sealed Thor or CA to my collection.

Personally I'm looking forward to these, I don't really see the issue here. Even if it's the same artwork, a first edition is always going to be a first edition. Nothing can alter that.

Maybe this is something that you should invest your energy in - lobbying studios and other folks in the UK to help HDN bring these long awaited titles to steel.

Obviously the amounts we can sell on this forum are on the rise, with the BluFans releases increasing their print run with each new item, so there's a market here, on this forum.

You make it happen for the titles you really want, and I'll make sure HDN sells the print run.

Deal? :movie:

So do I, but no - it's really, really not.

The artwork has been confirmed to be different. Your valuable/exclusive first edition is the original and is still exclusive.

As for 'release what the collectors want' - why should they? Of course they're going to release what's popular, they're in it to make money not to appease some random internet guy who wants 'cult classic #171' released in steelbook with sod all sales. Why bother, they can release Thor in 4-8k amounts and sell them out completely. They're a business, they owe you nothing.

Value of the 1st editions will take a major dent because most will be happy to own a Thor and CA steelbook. Look at Zombieland Ger 1st print it isn't worth even half now compared to before..

To be fair, it was reprinted in Germany with the same outside art for cheap, printed in the UK with new art...

And that's more of a niche title.

Look at Iron Man - reprinted in the UK, sold out in a number of days and still highly sought after anyway.

So it depends on the title I think - bigger the movie, the more fans, the more demand.

How is it not? With these releases every collector will own those titles in Steelbook form.

The reason why they should release what collectors ask for is because Steelbook collecting isn't a huge market. It's a drop in the ocean of home media releases. There are a wealth of back catalogue titles that would sell huge numbers but they are ignored for the easy money. By the way, when did I say they owed me anything? I never, straw man comes to mind.

Oh well. Sucks to be anyone that purchased for value and not for exclusivity then.

I don't see how you can make light of a situation where fellow collectors who paid a fortune for a title are now left with something worth half as much that is nowhere near as desirable as before.
