Steelbook is rubbish. Can hardly distinguish the spot glossing in hand.

How come the classic animated movies can get embossing and full gloss? Disney can do it when they want to.

€30 for such a cheap effort is really disappointing.

But I guess they'll want us to fork out for the inevitable lenticular version aswell (which will be just as shoddy!)

Roll on Blufans......

thats how economy steelbooks are these days. premium steelbooks are where its at :naughty::naughty::naughty::naughty:

That's a very good point.

I'm struggling to think of a recent 'economy' steelbook that's been of really good quality.

Perhaps Dumbo Best Buy. Again, Disney could do it if they wanted. But they are very few and far between.

They had to do it with Dumbo. It wasn't a popular or well liked movie.

Mine finally arrived...it’s barely gloss on the spots. How lazy

The rear artwork is much better and could have been a stunner with proper vibrant colour, true gloss and some nice ‘bossing.

NEvermind, decent enough to tide me over until the premiums start rolling,

Also, as I didn’t get a reply, for anyone else arsed, the 3D does retain the IMAX fullscreen scenes and looks great IMO

anyone opened the collector's edition? I'm not tempted by it cos the steel itself looks crap, just curious for future releases

I'll definitely be sending back the CE edition. I've thought about it and came to the conclusion that they are just sh*t quality for the price.
When the SM Life edition turned up it was quite apparent that edition and the other premium editions are just quality in comparison.
I don't want to keep it and get the others and run the risk of them turning up damaged after so many have been.
Premiums will only get better as time goes on and they'll all be trying to outdo each other, but these zavvi CE editions will become forgettable.

worth keeping in mind there are different paint laws in EU than there is in the USA and depending on where they are made can dictate final results. Then obviously depending on the size of the order can also dictate where it can be made based upon the financials. When i visited steelbook headquarters in Denmark i was told so long as the run is over 10k units then it could basically be made at any factory of theirs and work out for all. ($)

few years ago there was a VERY LONG streak of all matte steels from zavvi and it was when paint laws were changing etc. and no gloss was done due to these reasons. And im sure there was more deeper reasoning based on that but thats all I knew.

You'll also notice there are many times when a steel with the same art is gloss in USA/CA and then also gloss in UK ... but in actuality in hand you can see the difference. Its because of that.

Someone's finally opened theirs:-

Those badges look a bit naff with the best thing about this release being the light-up box and the artcards.

If enough pass feedback to them (like I have) asking to pass on to their supplier etc about the hot glue and not to use that on the box for the J card/ data sheet going forward then that’s a easier fix for now. Maybe.

Quality wise you may not see changes until spidey or after as I imagine end game is well into the stages of being made and being put together etc

The box is sturdy-ish, steel is always going to be the wwa (which isn’t bad In this case) and the art cards are ok. it’s the other things like the use of the glue, no decent finish on the art of the smaller box and the crappy pins. Enamel pins with ridges on the image with gloss paint should of been used like most decent pins. The light up function also does what it’s meant to do lol. It lights up. Things like that are a bit tacky to me but it still does what it’s supposed to

Improve the quality on the points I mentioned and improve the price and these would actually be ok.
