Cell Phone Broken

My cell phone won't charge up anymore. The connector is most likely broken off inside the phone. I have verizon, went to the store today, guy said theres not much I could do since I don't have insurance and the manufacturer's warranty is up. I'm like 6 weeks away from when I can upgrade the phone. Right now I'm forwarding all my calls to my wife's phone.

Anyone have this problem before? I either have to just chill for 6 weeks and wait till I can upgrade (otherwise I'd have to pay full retail for a new phone), or find a replacement phone on ebay or something.

Anyone have an old verizon phone they'd like to get rid of? I'd be happy to take it off your hands!

If this would of happened about a month ago I would of given you a phone. Let me check again I still might have a Treo somewhere.

i dont know if the treo would work since its a smart phone. i just have a regular phone with a text message plan. dont you need to pay like a $30 per month thing for smart phones/blackberries?
 
That sucks :-( Ive gott AT&T so I wouldn't be able to help out. Have you checked craigslist for any phones? I gotta wait till December before I can get a new phone as well.
 
Have you opened it up to take a look inside for any breaks in wire on the board?

Also, old batteries fail and won't hold a charge.. this can happen after moisture, etc... gets into it.

If you plug it in and it doesn't start charging it could be that the plug has worn to where it doesn't make sufficient contact, or it could be that the female part of the plug on the phone itself needs a little adjusting so it makes proper contact.


Generally phones don't just stop charging unless there's a break on the board which would have to be due to some serious abuse or shorting out, or that the contact is just loose.

Batteries fail all the time at holding charge if they're abused - which isn't hard to do!

No, you can have them put a complete data block. You can have your calling plan with txt messages and you are set. My brother had it this way for a while. The mandatory data plan is for newly purchased smartphones/blackberries, you could call and ask just to make sure.
 
my cell broke too :(

turn it on..it loads for 3 seconds..and then restarts. sometimes i get lucky enough for it to load all the way so i can check a text before it restarts.

He's got a good point... how do we know that the phones weren't struck down by a lightening bolt from God because of the naughty things you did with its vibrate function?

my text message sound was the metal gear solid noise for when you got spotted. ill have to get that again on my next phone, i made it so hopefully my new phone doesn't lock that out.
 
i might have to take you up on that thunda. my dad said hes pretty sure he has an extra, so ill go that route if he can find his old phone, otherwise if you're willing, ill give you my shipping address and paypal you the shipping costs if i can't use my dad's phone.
