I don't understand all the moaning about this release beeing sold out so quickly. It is not the first time for such a high demand Marvel steelbook. And I wouldn't blame the GBs for this. I think most members joining the GBs are collectors anyway and only a few buy copies to resell. And adding these to the retailers stock wouldn't change this title beeing sold out in seconds. Almost the same amount of people would end up empty handed. As a consequence try your luck ordering directly from the retailer but don't be too disappointed if you don't get one or join a GB or try your luck on the bay and set yourself a limit, what you want to pay for it. With some patience you will get it for the price at some point, especially, when the hype slowed down a bit. For sure it does not make any sense for the collectors community to blame the GB hosts for a title beeing sold out!!!!

Granted we always knew this would sell out instantly but I would be interested in knowing how many actually go live on the sites (nova/ kimchi) after they fill up the GBs.

Also you blatently know some that are joining GBs aren't just joining one and they are also ordering direct
By cancelling the GBs out it leaves only to order from the site with customers/ scalpers only getting up to 2 copies

But as I mentioned I wasn't interested in this release. I just feel for the actual genuine people who get up early or stay up late to order but don't manage to get one because only 10 copies go live after GBs (my number is an exaggeration obviously but you get the point)

I don't think the problem is with the GB hosts at all. In fact I admire them for the work they do. Always have.

What the problem is, is that the option to buy directly from the site is severely impacted with these GB's. Which IMO are not needed since the retailer ships worldwide.

That, coupled with the fact that this system is a paradise for resellers or scalpers (as copies appearing minutes after the 'sell out' this morning on Ebay for crazy prices have proven)

I agree, it's not about the hosts it's about the retailer and why they allow it. No matter what they will sell out on the retailer sites anyway.

Some one pointed out it's just business to these retailers.

Makes business sense to bulk sell to a re-seller. Takes off a huge workload from their own warehouse staff, postage costs, packaging, bubble wrap etc. Throwing 500 units in one big box instead of individually wrapping each one.

You can see why retailers do it ...

I don't think I've ever seen a live preorder go so fast, roughly 30 seconds! Oh wells atleast there's Manta Lab who I'm sure will do as good or a better job. I think this was a blessing in disguise for me, well my wallet atleast!

I agree, I just wish there was a way to know that X copies are already allocated for group buys. Otherwise I will be joining every GB simply for fear that they won't be available when it goes live on the website.
In some ways, I feel that Blufans method is the best - don't even worry or think about a website. Just purely GBs.
I appreciate the effort member put in who run group buys(I've only ever helped out on the odd single sale, so couldn't imagine packing/shipping as many as a GB would entail - so all praise to those putting the time in! I mean that! thank you!), however, in situations like this, where its clear the majority were sold (via GB's) ahead of the 'go live' time, its highly unfair.

If a retailer doesn't ship worldwide, then GB's are a welcome godsend. But in situations like this, it just begs animosity as there is no real need for a GB for the likes of Kimchi (that said, I do see the reasoning why and can certainly see the uses and benefits, but there is 100% no NEED)

That said, I have reached out to the GB'ers in case of any spares, as out of all releases, I am absolutely gutted about missing this one :( Its the second ever one click I was planning on and the first I would be keeping(prior was split between, myself and a buddy. So yeah, here's clear proof of the PRO'S of a GB, but I stand by my opinion of there being no real NEED to host them for the likes of Nova, Kimchi etc.

Not to beat a dead horse, but doesn't it feel a little silly to get this worked up about missing a release over ~$15 or so?

I mean, it's upsetting for me too when I don't get a release, but some of you should strongly consider changing your collecting habits (buy less overall, spend a bit more to join the group buys when available, for example). We all benefit from being a part of this community and having access to the group buys gives you an edge on all of the people out there who aren't even aware we have them. Spend a bit more to guarantee your copy, you'll feel better about it next time.
steelbook importing is double the cost of a standard locally sourced one as is. Why should we pay more ahead of time just to get a copy?
I'd rather just donate to the forum everytime I got an order in direct with a retailer. Am sure the GB'er's would prefer less people rather than more ordering through them as its a lot of time/effort just for the kindness of doing so.

I'm sorry then, but to be perfectly honest, you probably shouldn't be buying $50 Blu Rays at all. This is a hobby for people with disposable income. If you're digging too deep to afford everything you simply have to change your collecting habits.

Thank you for ignoring my suggestion completely, of which I gave a pretty clear idea that ANYONE in this hobby could benefit from. Buy less overall = have more money to spend to put towards these group buys. Being stubborn about this fact and whining about not being in the financial position to do something about it just makes you sound really poorly educated. Picking and choosing between releases is something responsible people have to start doing with their money.
what if we already do buy less over all?
I buy one, maybe 2 steels a month, down from a several a month as I choose to import and be more picky on the titles I truly want and will actually watch(this was done mostly as I ran out of space to store steels, not for monetary reasons)....so sorry but its not really a helpful suggestion IMO.
Especially when we shouldn't have to resort to paying more due to unfairness and greed (from the retailer and scalpers)

Well said. I agree with u. The GB hosts are great on this site.
Yes they are great, steelbook saints even and on par with those on BD forum and they deserve thanks!
But as much as they are appreciated, they are not needed in instances such as this, and sadly, appear to have just added to the unfairness of this release :( am sure we all agree on this at least...

We have all had this conversation here before.
Some people cannot make the live times. People from all over the world have trouble making the live time.
I can't be up at 3 A.M. to order a steelbook. I place a reservation with a GB host instead. Nothing unfair about that.
You can do it too, if you wish.

Been looking at eBay since this went live this morning and so far there's been a total of zero new listings of this release that I could buy and get sent to the UK. There were four listings total from 2 days ago, 3 x lenti and 3 x full slips from Thailand and 2 lenti and 2 full slips from Canada. The Canadian ones are now sold the Thai ones he's bumped the prices on and has reduced how many he was selling. So there hasn't been a massive influx of people selling these on eBay yet as people seem to be saying.

EDIT: The Canadian seller has just put up a couple more Lentis and another Full slip. Still $69.99ea

May end up being a grail item, who knows ?

Yes they are both great websits and hosts.

Then why are people ordering more than 1 copy of each through the GB

So here is what happened to me (Keep in mind i am EST). I fell asleep around 10pm last night and set my alarm clock for 12:55am. I logged onto my laptop and had the page sitting there. At 1am i click refresh button and the "add to cart" button was there, so i clicked it. Then it took me to the checkout page and the moment i clicked on Checkout, it says it was out of stock????!!!!!(LENTI ONLY) literally 1 min later " Which in my opinion is impossible". This is pure BS and i am furious.....

I think the website ****** up in my honest opinion, because there is no way that 1100 copies of the LENTI could sell out in 1 min, even with all the Group buys over here at HDN or even Blu-ray forum.... There would still be a massive amount available at least between 300-500 copies at minimum.

This is just insane and im a extremely upset. My wife gave me the OK to go ahead and order the Steelbook beacuse it has been a while since i ordered anything and look what happens...

Now i have to go freaking pay $70 bucks (Ebay) for a film i could have paid $45 with shipping included...

Anyone agree with my statement?
