I want 1-4 but not paying that rip off price, Amazon is a joke lately with their prices
Keep in mind that the Original movie is the one movie in the series that has NEVER gotten a decent transfer. All the previous issues of OG Die Hard have looked like crap.
This is way overdue. It is ridiculous that 20th Century Fox has basically ignored some of their crown jewels for remaster. (Speed, The Abyss, True Lies). Let's hope they get this right.
Remaster? Just a Blu-ray release would be nice
True.

True.
Watch them be the first releases to jump over 1080p Blu ray and be 4K UHD only releases...
(HD Copies of the Abyss can be had from streaming sources, but only the theatrical cut).

For real? Not an upconvert? I know about te theatrical out there, but don't remember ever seeing SE.There is a HD copy of The Abyss : special edition in the wild because I have it![]()

(Of course, I haven't looked in a while...)
I still think it is neck and neck between ALIENS and THE ABYSS SE as Cameron's greatest film.
Interesting. I remember that Cameron shot Matted Super 35 at 2.35:1 for Abyss. When he did the original special edition laserdisc he oversaw TWO editions: the letterboxed version and (This had to be the first time these words were ever used) The Director's Pan & Scan Edition!A man after my own heart lol.
There was two HD scans previously. The Japanese one with burn in subs (not sure which cut it was) and an open matte scan of the special edition (which I watched and quite liked). Not watched the newer one on Netflix yet
