Do you suffer from completist syndrome?

I picked up the 3 Lotrs steels from the WB line yesterday because A they were on sale for $9.99 hard to pass up a steel for that price and B they came with a $5 off a ticket to the Hobbit a movie I had already planned on seeing (wondering if I can sell the $5 off coupons for like $3-4 as I got 3 and my wife doesn't want to go so they would go to waste well at least 2 of them). So it was a win win.

But now the completest in me is crying to complete the WB line of steels. I have 14 of the 20 released already and its like cmon you so close even though some of the movies would be double dips and triple dips for me. I already own all 6 movies some in bluray and some in DVD and heck I actually have 2 G1's of the remaining 6 in steelbook already (the original Canadian V for Vendetta in G1 and the Green Lantern in the Best Buy G1). Then of course once I get those I'd have to consider the Departed (another steel I have in G1) and the Superman Returns.

Heck part of me wants to own every US released steel (not too hard of a task as I own a majority of them already, would need to complete my bonds, Battle LA, Cowboys and Aliens, Ironman 2, Salt, some Disney's and some other random steels). I know I will never even own a small portion of what gets releases to the UK much less the rest of the world, heck Canadian steels are more tackle-able then those and even those I am sure there is hundreds I am not even thinking about. But to have every US steel would be nice but then of course I would want to complete my US G1s which is also almost complete.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh the completest in me will be the ruin of me

Wow US steels missing was a bigger list that anticipated (thanks collection manager). Missing 34 US steels but a lot are of the cheaper variety 8 from the WB line (including the Departed and Superman Returns) can all be had for under $15. Heck even Atlas Shrugged, Battle LA, the 4 Bonds I am missing, This Is It are another 7 at affordable prices. That's 15 of the 34 it's the missing Disney's that would kill me as those are never cheap.

I wanted to at first but then I found out about the original disney line along with the bonds... So I gave up :hilarious:

There is still a few from the warner line id love to get but with newer steels coming out they have top priority:LOL:

Good luck !

When I first started collecting I wanted to get all the canadian releases but soon found out that was was going to be impossible, especially since I don't own an Iron Man FS or any of the disney's (not a fan of animated films so would probably skip those anyways).

I am becoming more picky now and just get films I am either going to open and watch or films that I really like and will watch again in the future at some point.

I suppose I am completist as I have all 64 Play.com exclusive steelbooks which have been released and another 4 in the post. That's 68 of the 69 Play exclusives confirmed so far, the other being Lawless which is out in January.

I also have at least 2 copies of each. There's no turning back now!! :p

HMV exclusives next...

I don't think the cost would be too much of a killer except for 10 of the 34. I am missing 9 Disney movies and the comic con Sucker Punch. Those are the only 10 killers as the Disneys would all be around $50 if not a little eedmore and I don't even want to think about the Sucker Punch. The other 24 are pretty reasonable heck scouted Best Buy and they had 3 of the WB line all for $9.99.

Now I am going to be twitching and tempted knowing those three are there.

Wow Canadian Releases weren't as bad as I thought they would be, once you remove all the US duplicates as these steels a lot of times are very similar it makes a complete Canadian collection for me only 65 more haha minus duplicates of course.

Glad I don't suffer from completist syndrome as that would be very expensive and imo quite pointless.
But we all have different reasons for collecting and mine is to get cool editions of the movies I like and I really don't want films I truly don't like sitting on my shelf just because their part of a wave or something.

The problem is that almost all these movies I already own hence I liked them already but now they are re-releasing them in steelbooks (I owned almost the entire WB line before it got released). So I am kind of replacing my movies with the steels plus I get a bluray out if it because I owned them on DVD.

Got an email for free mystery reward certificates from best buy from $10-5000 so guess what I am going to do on my break haha free steelbook as the three they have in store are all $9.99, maybe I will win like $50 and be able to get all 3 :)

I guess it depends on how you define 'completist'.

My version of the 'completist' syndrome would be that, if I buy one movie (from a series) in Steelbook, I want to buy all the movies from that series in Steelbook.

I almost purchased the whole Harry Potter Futureshop exclusives, but..couldn't get the last 2 movies. I put them back on the shelf.

I either get all, or none.

I could care less for an entire product line, but for individual series, I am usually a completionist. For example, I don't really care for the Paranormal Activity series, but once I bought #3, I had to buy 1 & 2. I did not feel the same way for the Underworld series.

Completist is the lighter term for OCDs (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)

So YES, I am under the Completist Syndrome. Thank Goodness, I am Financially Stable and Personally Satisfied with my Actions :)

Oh I am OCD too ;)

Dear lord I almost bought the G2 sized Green Lantern at Best Buy today even though I have the G1 version. I AM SICK I TELL YOU SICK.

I was a completist until I saw just how many there were. The very early ones and the plethora of Asian releases are the killers. Unfortunately the same steel being churned out with a different slip is a turn-off for me. I would prefer it in G1 (honest) or a printed back just to actually make it different.

I don't need all steels. But If I buy the first movie in a series, such as resident evil, I tend to continue to complete the series if they keep getting released.

Aside from wanting to complete movies in a "series" I have definitely broken the completist behaviour now. Its a real burden to collect in that way IMO.

Not me, I only buy what I like unless its a favourite director or film then I try to get as much as possible.

When I first started collecting, I was pre-ordering as much as I could. Needless to say that got expensive FAST. I managed to control it until I was only buying what I liked.
