BOSS CAT BBC VERSION OF TOP CAT
This is advice for enthusiasts who want to find the original BBC Boss Cat Opening & Closing Themes to the UK version of Top Cat.
Top Cat wasn't shown on the BBC between 1990-1998, but was shown on Cartoon Network UK. The Boss Cat title card, didn't have music or sound in it, it was just like a Screen Title Card, like they sometimes add on VHS Video Tapes to series which don't have Episode Name Title Cards such as the Flintstones, Inspector Gadget, Top Cat him self and many more.
Cartoon Network UK was still showing the BBC UK Version up until the Mid/Late 1990's, it just didn't have the Silent Boss Cat Screen Title at the end of the opening theme.
I've got a very good memory for such stuff and in the Cartoon Network Opening & Closing Credits - it said 1962, when the USA Credits all say 1961, which is because the UK version had Top Cat's name cut out of the start of the opening theme and the end of the closing credits, plus the credits texts were changed and the sound music was moved in a different position, so they thought we might as well put the year 1962 in the UK Credits & opening theme as that is when it premiered in the UK.
Most UK Top Cat VHS Releases were conversions from existing USA NTSC Releases into Pal Format which made the UK Releases have the USA Credits, but thankfully after Turner bought Hanna Barbera, later in 1994/95 the UK VHS Company that dealt with HB/Turner releases was allowed to create videos of their own and independently edit them from UK Master Copies, which is why we had lots of exclusive HB VHS Releases that didn't make it to the USA and thankfully one release contained the BBC UK Opening & Closing Credits, just without the Silent Boss Cat Title Card At The End.
The VHS Release is called - Top Cat In The Golden Fleecing. The Picture on the front cover is an orange, red and yellowish background with Top Cat Running and it says Golden Greats at the top with a Top Cat HB Logo.
I've got the VHS release my self, because I just enjoyed Top Cat in the mid/late 1990's on cartoon network along with everything else, but just recently I've got Sky TV again and began to notice I never see the year 1962 in the Top Cat Credits that I'm use to from the 1990's plus the start and ends of the opening & closing themes both by picture and sound don't quite sound or look like the way I remember them and I wanted to see it the way I remember it, not the USA version that is now used in the UK as well, so I done date and Boss Cat searching and have only just learnt recently Why the UK Version themes are different. Then because I could remember the UK Version on Cartoon Network in the mid/late 1990's and my VHS Cartoon expertness via the fact we had UK Exclusive HB VHS releases in 1994/95 that never made it to the USA, so I thought that they might have the UK theme & credit versions that I got to know Top Cat by which came in the post to my address on Tuesday 27TH August 2013 and I was very over the moon when watching it, to see that it had the 1962 credit theme song versions that I got to know Top Cat by and I am extremely happy to be able to see it the way I got to know it.
