I have reported this problem to PayPal last week.

Part of their response: "I understand your situation and would like to state that we are experiencing a technical issue regarding this matter and would like to apologize for this issue."

Not happy about this at all; now almost every payment is converted to my CC currency with corresponding extra PayPal fees.

I'm now sending a complaint to PayPal for every payment where the payment currency is not used for the credit card transaction.

Never thought of it. I'll send them a query/complaint as well :thumbs:

A bit out of context but somewhat connected;

did anyone else experience a PayPal problem lately? The last two payments I had, I don't have the choice to send money directly in CZK and leave my bank to do the conversion. Usually I chose the currency and sent the money. For the last week (possibly longer?) I have two choices:
- either to choose in which currency I want to send money (only EUR or USD to choose from!!!);
- or in which currency the receiver gets the money (example CZK).

The conversion is then done by PP and of course I get charged the conversion fee. There is an option where I can select how the conversion is done (PP or my bank) but it doesn't accept my selected option. I don't know how or why I got stuck with only EUR and USD as paying options - my card is stil the same, no changes made and my bank still allows to do the conversion by themselves at 0 cost...

Any clues guys & gals?

Same thing happened to me, I could only pay in GBP or USD-most perplexing!

I was having the same issue, complained to paypal and got nowhere, it's to do with the new interface.
This is what i did, and it worked last night.
If you google "paypal old site" you will see a link to take you to the paypal community site, click the link in a post by mcg48.
Once you log in it takes you to the old paypal site. Everything works as normal.:thumbs:

I've been having the same annoying problem buddy. I'm unable to select the option "card issuer" to convert currency with my Bank and PayPal will only allow me to use their currency conversion rates... :rolleyes:o_O Not good when you have a multitude of invoices to pay :LOL: It all adds up! EEK!:bag:

Think I may have found the post/link but when I go to make payment, I'm taken back to the new interface again :( Please PM me the link or let me know how I can use the older PayPal when making payments (if that's possible?). Thanks in advance :thumbs:

I just used the new PayPal interface and it let me select just fine how to pay Karel... is it only a sporadic bug that happens?
What currency were you charged in when you look at your transaction details?

PayPal also let's me select "Convert with card issuer" just fine, but still goes ahead as if I had chosen "Convert with PayPal" :censored::mad:

Mind you, I haven't tried today, so maybe they really have fixed this already.

The problem definitely seems to be connected to the new UI and the corresponding new PayPal API used in online stores for processing payments.

Upon looking at the transaction details it says it charged me the amount in CZK, and it did the conversion rate of 24.93 CZK to 1 USD.

I sent the money on Wednesday too, not today so my experience isn't from a current time-period. I realized my post said I "just used" it but I really didn't it was a couple of days ago
