Well my first one has landed. This is my open/hybrid/modded personal copy. I worked pretty hard to get it just right. Fortunately the steelbook is still in great shape. I also attatched the picture I used which is "FULLY AWESOME!!!" - Rhino:hilarious:

Well had fun in HMV today trying to return two copies from the Group Buy that didn't reach Ninja standard..........they refusedEEK!...............initially;)....

I think the exact quote from the 20ish lad behind the counter, after I'd told him I was collector and they weren't up to scratch was, 'Well buddyif you're a collector maybe next time you'll check them a bit more carefully before you leave the store - I was a little surprised by that attitude to be honest.

I pointed out that it said 'Collectors Edition' on the front and that as a collector I didn't feel able to accept them (I didn't mention my statutory right to return goods with a receipt within 7 days or something).

Anyway, I asked for the manager and was given the 'on this occasion' bulls**** as she VERY reluctantly gave me a refund...

HMV wonders why it's going down the tubes - I spent over £195 with them on Monday and returned 2 copies of Drive (the opened one they will simply re-wrap and sell to someone else anyway) and they treat me like that...NOT IMPRESSED HMV!!

Anyway, has anyone returned to HMV online before - as I have to send 2-3 copies back to them - if they're attitude is the same they won't accepy paint defects, etc as a reason to refund...:ohno:

That's disgusting mate. I'm surprised you kept your cool with him. Personally I've always found their staff quite friendly and helpful... but then I'm just going by the 1 or 2 occasions when I've actually had to ask for help. Plus that's just in my local HMV store.

To be fair it shouldn't make any difference whether you're a collector or not... you're a customer and have the right to return items and expect a refund. He sounded like a bit of a cocky little t**t! Maybe if he was any good at his job then he would have checked the quality of items more carefully before putting them on the shelves. ;)

I was against this idea before, but after the way they've treated him I'd do the exact same thing.... and say they were damaged in transit! What a cocky lil Sh!t that HMV rep was.

yeah im not one for damaging stock on purpose but if you returned the order you bought online then if they cannot see much damage they will resend you the ones you returned lol.

Haha, that's a nice one. There is no 'on this occasion' because it's consumer law! I'm sure HMV Head Office would be willing to furnish her with details of the legislation if she's not heard of it!

As regards online purchases, the same applies. You are allowed to return ANY items you are dissatisfied with and the company is obliged to provide either a replacement or a refund. What they may NOT legally do is to return the same damaged merchandise to you.

I have to say I've never had a problem with returns to HMV, either online or in-store, and have always been treated courteously and in line with trading regs. I guess you were just unlucky to bump into some 'jobsworth' types on this occasion who made the experience more unpleasant than it needed to be.

I think you're spot on and thanks for clarifying the legal bit - I knew that you could return stuff within a specified period if you had your receipt.

HMV sadly has a policy of no refunds despite UK Consumer Law, possibly because so many people abused it in the past. I've been in the same situation as Ant with a single sealed BD I think it was, and had to "start to lose the rag" to get the desired result from their manager. Shame but that's HMV for you.

What kind of policy does HMV have when they send you an unsealed prodcut. I got a Cowboys and ALiens in yesterday and it was unsealed. Couldn't believe it.
