I find all this hype really weird tbh. Before the preorder started and it sold out instantly (and has since been fetching high prices on ebay) people were quite negative towards this edition. From the "**** on hand on the Lenti full slip" to "why did Jackson Pollock design the Full slip?" to "look, it's an "It Follows" rip-off on the double lenti" I can barely remember a sigle person who liked this. I think all editions - except the one-click which I can't afford - look really really mediocre and that comes from a guy who bought 4 steelbooks of this already, including one 1/4 slip that features only a lamp
People that dislike something are always more outspoken and as much as I like this place, I wouldn’t use it as a gauge for how much thousands of other potential buyers are going to feel about a release.

I don't think that's necessarily true.
But I do think there are a lot of lurkers on forums that don't contribute anything to threads either way but snap up titles.....

No I remember something in my marketing class at university. I believe that it was stated that 1 unhappy customer will tell 10 people about his experience and a happy customer will only tell 3 people. So yes that seems right that people who dislike an edition will be more vocal than someone who likes it.

many threads especially Zavvis and FAC more people will voice their negative opinions than the other way around.

That's completely different. That's about a customer unhappy with a shoddy service.

The theory still applies here, it’s not just about unhappy customers but how someone will react whether he feels negatively or positively regarding something(product or service). Each and every one of us here provide our personal opinion regarding a specific product. Same thing.

Exactly and taste is subjective.

How am I telling a negative opinion to 10 people more than a guy with a positive opinion of something?

It's a forum. Everyone following the thread can see both opinions. No one is influencing any more or any less than anyone else.....

Your marketing analogy applies to repeat business only.....

Personally, I don't always post that I like something when I do, but if I'm critical of a release I'll almost always state the reason(s) why and you don't have to browse here (or the entirety of the Internet) for very long to see how that is the case. People are always more vocal about things they don't like.

Agreed, same here. If I'm feeling particularly vocal and I absolutely love something, it'll get a post. If I'm equally as displeased with something it's even more likely to get a post, as complaining seems to trumpy joy with most people. If I simply "like" something and there were no hiccups with service, it's least likely to get a post.

I wouldn't know, I never wanted this myself personally, nor do I sell on ebay so unless you were talking about Lutzo's post or your own radiated some kinda irony towards another post then...

I don't even hate it or dislike it particularly. I'm just fascinated by the interest in it and will wait for in-hands pics to decide whether it is worth buying for 3 times the initial price. My first gut instinct was that I didn't like it enough to buy it and I was online when it went live, I even saw the One-Click Group Buy the minute it launched and started calculating shipping and all and just decided not to buy it. Do I regret it now? Of course I do, but you win some you lose some and if the next Drive Premium is in fact a 4K edition, I will probably buy it even if I don't really like it....shouldn't have only a lamp on the front though ideally

First question, were you happy with the Marketing course and did you tell anyone?
