and how about returning to the old gb system then? the forum can at least handle 100 ppl posting in the same thread ;)

So then you are asking Aniv to contact each person individually, manually invoice each person, all of that.

The current automated solution works for most releases, most of the time, but each Group Buy host has to determine what works for them and if there are edge cases that they
should approach differently.

yeah itd be more work true… he does have a system for his shipping invoices tho, which works quite well..

We've been on the most stable release of the software that supports the group buy system for a long time now. That's remain unchanged.

People can have all the wild & crazy theories they want and I think it ignores some of the most basic facts. This will be my last post on this subject.

1) Retailers have spread out their quantity allocated for pre-sale more than ever before. Instagram users, Facebook posts, discussion forums...there are a lot of mouths to feed.

2) More people than ever are after premium releases.

3) More steelbook collectors come here than ever before in order to grab an edition but not as many continue to support the site in other ways (sticking around, viewing ads, or creating new content and discussing topics).

4) The system we use for group buys is not designed to combat 100 people trying to purchase 20 copies at the same time. It does what it can but there are limitations.
Sorry to say Andy, but "the most stable" doesn't really mean also "the best version" or "the most reliable", if you know what I mean.
But sure, if you're not willing to at least TRY to look on the logs or statistics, then nevermind. Sorry for bothering.

It's fine it's not like he ever mentions being busy at work or being in meetings :naughty:

yeah, group buys, the regular job or kids don't take any time at all. ;)

with all of my free time in 2021, according to my letterboxd I was able to watch a whopping 11 (eleven) feature films. :censored:

LOL just because I don't talk about how the forum works or the hours I spend on things behind the scenes doesn't mean things get ignored.

I'll slink back to my job in the mines now...

My only suggestion on this matter is to do staggered GB's since all of them at once seems not working.
I mean, I find it unfair to base a purchase on pure luck, like spending half a hour refreshing and getting/not getting a copy.

Aw sh*t. Didn't realise this was going live tonight :wow:

Bummed. Are they all gone now @Aniv or will there be another batch realising later?

If not, never mind :sorry:

@Aniv said no restocks, although that was before the GB was switched off due to overload, but then I see others may have picked up the remaining copies, but not sure.

Coming from someone who has had success with GBs but also missed out, both old style and current style, it’s ultimately a game of luck, chance, and timing, all of which cannot be planned.

I get those who are upset, sitting up her with my OC ordered, but I likewise missed out on the Inception FAC when that came around, and Christ that had only a handful of copies!

There’s not enough system updates, coding, or server reliability that will please all, but something must work for most, and maybe that’s what we currently have.

It would seem however, when comparing this Manta GB to the likes of their Interstellar or WeETs Spider-man, there is a stark contrast in the stability of the PayPal communication specifically, yet I would say there was higher demand for those, and I don’t recall these payment issues then, not to mention the forum wide crash we saw during TDK-gate, which wasn’t just isolated to the PayPal comms issue, but a knock on effect due to that and the increased traffic.

Of course I have no place to speculate nor surmise changes or improvements that need to be made, nor am I in a position like @apsmith21 to do so, but if there’s anyway I can help or support, and I’d imagine I speak for most as I’m sure others would, then I’m more than willing to try in anyway I can!

If I won't be able to pay for it directly, as besides all these problems here, I've been having trouble with PayPal loading any page without refreshing it 2-3 times for half a year, then at least I'll have FilmArena megabox to look forward to, which is practically guaranteed for me.

It's my own fault for not keeping an eye on this thread. I consider myself thankful because when it's come to GB's I've (more or less) managed to get lucky more times than I've missed out

I don't mind missing out on these so much because I don't like the floating heads bouquets on the full slip and steelbook and I don't like the human bowling pins pose on the double lenti.

... now that I was not able to order cause of the error, I'm too ... ;)
