I picked up three of these at my local Super Target and the one that I opened had a circular scratch underneath the backing card... almost like the disk caused the scratch. Fortunately I caught it quickly enough to return it to Target and replace it with a good copy. I just hope that the two un-opened copies don't have that same issue. Did anybody else experience that problem?

I don't get it!? Why is everybody's orders getting cancelled? EEK! I ordered mine the day before release and it shipped. Of course it shipped in a jiffy bag  but was miraculously undamaged. :scat: Are people's CC getting declined or something or is it a geographical thing?

I believe some are for the fact that they order more than 3 which Target cancels, and the rest I believe there was a glitch in the inventory system which showed out of stock

to add, i just ordered 1 copy!

I just got my copy in a gray plastic bag with absolutely no packing materials, which was the same bag they sent my damaged copy of The Avengers. At least three major dents on it, and all Target.com can do is apologize. Luckily, I was able to pick up a copy at my local store. After speaking with Target.com idiots, I am convinced that they will never change their policy until they we stop purchasing through Target.com - I suggest all of us reconsider whether Target.com serves our best interests when they send us collectibles in such flimsy packaging and then claim they can't do anything about the packaging.

mfc, your frustration is totally understandable. I had identical experience regarding collectibles from Target.com until a wise steelbook veteran gave me this advice:

"If we want to encourage more steelbooks in the US, we need to vote with our wallets."

If we stop buying from the shrinking number of US retailers betting on steelbooks because of their lack of experience handling and shipping steelbooks, we will never get steelbooks released in the US in the likes of Canada, Asia and Europe. Instead let me provide another approach, order these items in quantity to force the shipment in boxes rather than jiffy bags or what have you. Pick through the few and keep the one(s) you want and return the others. I know this sounds inconvenient and borderline unethical but is that any worse than Target simply saying they are sorry for their poor choice of packaging?

I hope to see US members to pull our collective minds together to find ways to encourage more steelbooks despite the learning curve of the retailers. If we simply stop buying exclusive steelbooks from any retailer, we are sending a message that will hurt us in the long run.

Now that auto-cancelling issue is a whole different discussion altogether :D

Ash, definitely not a good idea to not buy-because Steels are scarce to begin with. However this is very annoying, so I'd say perhaps folks want to call the customer service line to report the issue so that there is an influx. Anytime an issue like this occurs at another retailer, we usually have to let them know so changes can be made. Hopefully this all gets better going forward, especially with an increased # of releases.

Wrong! I ordered 3 items at $20.99 and received no email about cancellation. When i did not receive any email about order being shipped 1 day after the release date, i logged in to realize that there was no order showing up in order history. I sent an email and the reply i got was that they are OOS so my order was canceled. OOS my ass! It had actually dropped in price to $17.99 and was still showing up in stock. I placed a fresh order of 3 copies and it got shipped promptly. :hilarious:

I feel Amazon and Target are on 2 opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to management and customer service !

Target is just a crap online retailer. I ordered 2 and they cancelled mine as well with no notice or anything. They did the same thing to me when I pre-ordered Cowboys & Aliens, I spoke to 6 different people to find out why my order was cancelled, and everyone of them gave me a different answer. Thank god I am not thrilled with the Bourne movies, so I don't have to deal with them online ever again.

Oh yes definitely get your money's worth in reporting any issue (heck I have even impersonated different voices just to confuse the reps when they talk about me :hilarious::hilarious:) to their Customer Service line so they will know but don't stop buying period. Hopefully US retailers will see what is going on over the pond with Play, HMV and Amazon.UK and learn a ton from them.

Like I said the others were because of a glitch. I went on the website to place an order and it said out of stock but later that day it had the lower price and was back in stock.

I had the same issue. I preordered 3 when it first showed up on the website. Then no emails, no updates....I checked about 2 weeks ago and said to expect shipment by 10/12. Then friday came around, and nothing....so I checked again, and it said CANCELLED!
Poor customer online service from Target if you ask me. Luckily, i stopped by the store for mine.

Back in stock and only $12.99. I can't guarantee this isn't a glitch though.

EDIT: It was in stock and available for shipping when I ordered it a half hour ago...
